Golf Magazine Says 13 of SC’s Best Courses You Can Play Are in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is known for having more than its fair share of really good golf courses. But did you know the Grand Strand is home to several courses that Golf Magazine officially recognizes as the very best in the nation? When Golf’s editors recently released their 2016/2017 “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” list and “Best In State” rankings, they confirmed the Myrtle Beach area has the best collection of golf courses in the country.

The next time you plan a golf vacation, contact Myrtle Beach Golf Trips and we’ll make it easy for you to book some of America’s greatest layouts.

Imagine teeing it up on one of the “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in America.” At Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Dunes Golf & Beach Club, True Blue Golf Club and Barefoot Resort’s Love Course, you’ll be doing just that. Then, round out your golf trip with tee times on any of nine additional courses that made Golf Magazine’s state-by-state rankings. With tee times on these “best in state,” you’ve got a memorable golf trip lined up.

In addition to the aforementioned designs, you can play Barefoot Resort & Golf’s Fazio and Dye courses, Tidewater Golf Club, TPC Myrtle Beach, Grand Dunes Resort Club, King’s North at Myrtle Beach National, Heritage Club, Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club and Heathland at Legends Golf Resort. They’re all among Golf’s top 20 courses in South Carolina, a state with an incredible 360 golf courses stretching from the ocean to the mountains.  Myrtle Beach Golf Trips books tees times on each of these 13 “best-in-state” courses.

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island is one of four Grand Strand designs named to Golf Magazine’s national “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” listing, coming in at number 29. The magazine calls the Mike Strantz design “a complete test of shotmaking.” It also points to the beauty of its antebellum clubhouse and the 18th hole that borders the old rice plantation and the Waccamaw River. It’s worth noting that Golf Digest also says Caledonia is one of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.”

Also recognized by Golf Digest as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses,” Dunes Golf & Beach Club comes in at 39 on Golf Magazine’s list. This classic 1948 Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course is known for the infamous 13th hole called “Waterloo.” The par 5 doglegs around Lake Singleton, and “double bogeys and alligators await any sliced shot” the magazine points out.

Mike Strantz’s True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island is ranked 77 for the second consecutive time. Built on an indigo and rice plantation, it’s known for wide fairways with numerous elevation changes and dramatic, undulating greens.

Barefoot Resort’s Love course comes in at 85.  On one of its most memorable holes, you’ll discover the re-created ruins of an old plantation home. This is where you can take on one of the area’s best risk/reward tests at the par-4 4th hole.

It’s hard to believe that you can book these top courses this spring starting around $67. When you book this fall, you can get a four-round package on a selection of Golf Magazine’s top South
Carolina courses
(Pawleys Plantation, TPC Myrtle Beach, Grande Dunes Resort Club and King’s North at Myrtle Beach National) from just $345 — including a $100 Rewards Card and $15 Carrabba’s Italian Grill dining certificate for each golfer in your group.

Spring will be here before you know it.  But the real bargain hunters know the time to book is now before spring’s premium rates go into effect.
