Story by Chris King
The Golf Capital of the World can now claim another distinction: Myrtle Beach is one of the game’s most accessible destinations via nonstop flight. You heard that right. People don’t always associate Myrtle Beach with air service, but we enjoy nonstop flights from 43 markets. From the Rocky Mountains and the Lone Star State to America’s Heartland and Northeast, Myrtle Beach International has emerged as South Carolina’s leading airport. A total of nine airlines – Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Porter, Spirit, Sun Country, United and WestJet – offer service to Myrtle Beach from 19 different states, Washington, D.C., and Canada.
Here are a few numbers to consider:
States with most nonstop access to Myrtle Beach:
7 – New York (Albany, Long Island, New York City, Newburgh/Stewart, Niagara Falls, Plattsburgh, Syracuse)
4 – Pennsylvania (Allentown, Harrisburg, Latrobe, Philly)
3 – Ohio (Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus), New Jersey (Atlantic City, Newark, Trenton), West Virginia (Charleston, Clarksburg, Huntington)
Longest nonstop flight:
Denver, CO

Myrtle Beach International christened a sparkling new terminal in 2013 and it’s as nice today as it was upon its opening. As a matter of fact, MYR received two Routes of Americas awards in 2018, being named both best airport “Under 4 Million Passengers” and best “Overall.” To win the “Overall” award, MYR topped Las Vegas, Seattle-Tacoma, Oakland, Denver, Reno-Tahoe and Tampa, among others.
