Myrtle Beach Air Service Continues to Grow Following Spirit’s Departure

Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) continues to expand its nonstop flight options, with Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) among the newest additions to a growing list of destinations. Combined with recent service expansions from Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, and Contour Airlines, golfers now have more ways than ever to reach the Golf Capital of the World.

Among the newest routes are Southwest’s seasonal nonstop service from Houston Hobby (HOU), Allegiant’s nonstop flights from Dayton International (DAY) and Elmira Corning Regional (ELM), and Contour Airlines’ new service from Raleigh County Memorial Airport in Beckley, West Virginia (BKW). Breeze Airways has also expanded service to several key markets, including Pittsburgh International (PIT), Long Island MacArthur (ISP), Akron-Canton (CAK), and Atlantic City International (ACY).

The growth is especially noteworthy in the wake of Spirit Airlines’ bankruptcy restructuring, which resulted in the carrier ending service to Myrtle Beach and several other markets. Rather than seeing a long-term reduction in accessibility, Myrtle Beach International Airport has continued to attract new routes and expanded service from other carriers, helping maintain convenient access for travelers across the country.

For golf groups, easier air travel means less time spent making connections and more time enjoying everything Myrtle Beach has to offer. Whether it’s a buddies trip, annual golf getaway, or bucket-list golf vacation, additional nonstop routes make planning and reaching the Grand Strand more convenient than ever.

With more than 80 golf courses, accommodations for every budget, and a growing list of flight options, Myrtle Beach remains one of the most accessible golf destinations in America.
