For most golfers, there is no such thing as an “easy” birdie hole but there are exceptions to every rule. As the home 90 golf courses, Myrtle Beach by nature features holes that give even the most average of players an opportunity to circle a score on their card.
Here are five holes, no matter your skill level, that will allow you to at least consider the possibility of making birdie.
Playing just 265 yards (all distances from white tees), the fourth hole on Barefoot Resort’s Love Course just begs players to make three. Driving the green isn’t easy but the only real trouble is a bunker in the middle of the fairway that is approximately 230 yards to clear. Avoid the sand and you will, at the very least, think about a three.(pictured below)
The 14th on the Avocet Course at Wild Wing is another 265-yard par 4, so it will be go-time when you reach the tee. There is a little trouble off the tee in the form of sand and rough, but nothing that is prohibitively difficult. Hit a decent drive and start dreaming.(top photo)
Returning to Barefoot Resort, the Fazio Course isn’t known as a pushover but the 440-yard, par 5 fourth hole is there for the taking. If your tee shot avoids the fairways bunkers on the left, you will be positioned to make birdie. Even if you can’t reach the green in two, a short chip and a putt will be all that stands between you and a four.
If you have to make birdie on a par 3, the 107-yard fourth hole at King’s North at Myrtle Beach National is the place to do it. Sure, there is water to clear off the tee but you’ve got a wedge in hand and a fairly easy green to hit. When the pin is on the right side of the putting surface, No. 4 can surrender birdies in bunches.
The final entry on the list actually includes two holes, both of them par 5s at Meadowlands Golf Club, a course that has worked hard to earn a player-friendly reputation. The 14th hole at Meadowlands is a 439-yard par 5 and the 18th is a 440-yard par 5. If you don’t make birdie near the end of a round at Meadowlands, it’s just not meant to be.
