Skill Drills with Meredith Kirk: Handle Distance

Have you ever wondered how far the handle should be from the body at address? Well I’m getting ready to show you. What you want to do is you want to get set up nice and square to the ball with an iron. You’re going to get your palm, put your fingers together just like this. Rest it on the inside of your left thigh, just like that, and there you go. That’s the correct distance. You want to do this with all of you irons. So when you set up you’ll have a nice compact swing through impact. What we don’t want is we don’t want to be too far away nor do we want to be too constricted here because then you can’t rotate. So again, when you set up, one palm length. That’s going to be the correct distance from the handle to your body.
