Today I’m going to give you a drill working on your glutes. Titleist Performance Institute says that the glutes are the king of the golf swing. The glutes give you power, they give you distance, they also help with your pelvic angle coming through impact. They control your weight distribution, back and forth through the swing. So no wonder why they’re called the king. You know the glutes are the most important muscles in your golf swing. So I’m going to show you how to strengthen your glutes and help you gain more stability, more control, more distance in your game. So the first thing that you want to do is you’re going to lay down with your feet touching the ground like this. Lay all the way back with your hands to the side. Get comfortable with this. Now what we’re going to do is we’re going to point our toes to the ceiling or to the sky here and we’re going to lift our body up. What we don’t want is to drop our backside down. We want to lift it up and squeeze it forward like this. Now, with my palms down I’m going to lift my body as high as to where my shoulders are still on the ground though. My head and shoulders feel nice and connected and I’m lifting up here and I’m squeezing. This is really intense right here. I mean this is the glute drill that you can do right here for your golf swing and you’re going to hold it like 30 seconds and then you’re going to come back down and we’re going to continue to repeat this three to four times.Now the second time you do this I want your palms out to move out, straight out in front of you, palms down. We’re going to keep our toes pointed and we’re going to lift up again like this. Everything is coming off the ground except the shoulders and the head and you’re going to hold this for about 30 seconds. You’ll notice as you get to the end of the 30 seconds you might get a little shaky, okay? Because all those muscles, your glutes, are just engaging and they’re getting stronger. You can bring it back down.So this right here is my favorite drill to help strengthen my glutes so again, if you want more power and more distance you’ve got to try this glute drill.
