Sea Trail Resort – Jones Course
The Rees Jones Course at Sea Trail Plantation opened in 1990 and has long been a favorite among both locals and visiting golfers. Designed by Rees Jones, the layout stretches to just under 6,800 yards from the back tees and delivers a balanced challenge defined by wide fairways, bold shaping, and water hazards that come into play on 11 of the 18 holes.
The course is approachable for golfers of all skill levels, offering generous landing areas while still requiring thoughtful shot placement into large, contoured greens. Date Played: 10/18/2020Middle of the Pack, not a great value. It is a rather traditional layout, but the facility overall feels rundown. The Jones course plays like a "standard American golf course" with extra mounds, instead of a special course that is designed to feature its setting near the coast. You can't take a cart to the driving range, and there is no shuttle service, so enjoy the walk! The starter was great, but the staff in the shop were untrained and uninformed. In the shop, I was told the starter gives out yardage books for free; the starter told me I was supposed to buy it in the shop! There is nothing too bad about Sea Trail, but there is nothing too great about it either, so their price makes it a weak value compared to other options in the area (e.g., Heritage, et. al.).

Date Played: 08/05/2018Terrible course. Hadn't rained in two days yet due to poor or no drainage system the course was cart path only and was barely playable. We were not warned of the conditions until we got to the starter and it was to late. Our tee time was paid for online but when we get to the clubhouse the worker cannot verify that it was paid for although I showed him on my banks app that the money was taken out of my account. So I had to pay again and was told to take a business card and call tomorrow and they will refund my money. Tee boxes were like shaggy fairways, fairways were like a back yard that had spots that hadn't been mowed in 2 weeks. There were patches of grass in the fairways that 8-9 inches high. Greens were cut way to short and was like dirt with a little bit of grass. I am from Dayton Ohio which is not supposed be anywhere near the golf location that myrtle beach is but if this course was in Dayton it would be closed. Also the myrtle beach website guaranteed the lowest price so it was 60 dollars person online but when I got to the course it was 50 dollars a person. All around an awful experience. Maybe they should give up on 2 or 3 of the 4 courses and focus on keeping one in at least decent shape. I would not recommend this course to my worst enemy. Awful awful awful.
