Meredith: Hey everyone. We are at the coolest place in Myrtle Beach, one of the best restaurants, Lulu’s, and joining me today is general manager Vanessa Owen. Vanessa, thanks for having us out.
Vanessa: My pleasure. We love having you, thank you.
Meredith: Well, the moment I walked on your property here, with all these games that you have, corn hole and volleyball, just so much fun. The environment here is fantastic. Lulu’s is awesome. And I want to share with our viewers some reasons why visiting golfers need to come here and experience not only the atmosphere of this restaurant, but the great drinks and food that you guys have.
Vanessa: Obviously the drinks and food are foremost and after you’ve been out on the course all day, you’re going to want to come someplace where you can just relax, acclimate, lay back a little bit, get something wonderful to drink, something ice cold, and basically our job is to make you forget about yours for a while. So when you’re already in that, “I’ve played a round of golf, and now we’re just going to finish out our day beautifully,” this is just such a wonderful place to do it. You’ve got music going, you’ve got TVs if you need to see a little something that’s on, or the game or a tournament, it’s nice. And of course just the chairs, the furniture, everything is comfortable for you here. And that makes a difference if you’ve been out in the hot sun, if you’ve been out playing all day, to be able to come in, get acclimated, still feel the breeze, still enjoy what you went through for the day, but just add that extra bringing it on home the right way.
Meredith: Right. Well, definitely great vibes here, this is certainly a place that I would come to after a round. Positive atmosphere. So you know, if you don’t have the best round, come on down to Lulu’s.
Vanessa: Oh yeah, we’ll fix that for you.
Meredith: They’ll fix it. All right, let’s talk a little bit about, maybe your drink specials or some of your food. And you have this really cool thing where you can actually find out where the fish that you’re eating was caught? Seriously, how cool is that?
Vanessa: This is so true. We have fresh gulf seafood here. Shrimp, fish, the most important one though is we have fresh Red Snapper. You don’t see it very often around here. In the grand strand, Snapper is hard to come by, every once in a while you will see it. We go through the trouble of making sure that we have fresh Snapper and we bring it in from the gulf.
Meredith: That’s amazing.
Vanessa: The coolest thing about it is we have this awesome little thing called Fish Tracks. So when your Snapper comes out, you’re actually given a little label, you can shoot it with your phone, and it will tell you the day, the boat, the captain, everything about when your fish was caught. So it’s just that extra quality of experience and freshness that carries over. You know exactly what it is that you’re enjoying.
Meredith: That is just so cool.
Vanessa: It’s really fun.
Meredith: I have never heard of something like this, but I’m not surprised that it’s happening with Lulu, because you guys are so creative in what you do here. And also, I want to share with our viewers, if you have allergies, Lulu’s is a great place to come. So if you’re bringing your family, you have children or even adults, I know there’s many adults that have allergies, let’s share with our viewers a little bit about your menu here.
Vanessa: And/or just a dietary restriction, just where you’re trying to eat gluten-free. It doesn’t have to be a specific allergy, it can just be something that you would like help with. But even for families with very severe allergies, we are able to accommodate them safely, feel good about it. We have an allergy menu that covers lots of different types of basic allergies.
Meredith: It covers everything.
Vanessa: Right, it really does. But even if you have an obscure allergy, we know our product so well, our product is scratch-made, our chefs are ready to accommodate. We have a separate area in the kitchen where we produce that to make sure that it’s safe, and it’ll be followed through in every portion of your meal. So from your drinks, if you’re gluten free, I can make sure that you have a gluten-free cocktail or beer, right through to the food.
Meredith: Amazing, really.
Vanessa: So it’s really awesome. And the families who require it, it’s very special for them.
Meredith: It is, it really is. You guys have outdone yourselves here at Lulu’s at Barefoot Landing in north Myrtle Beach. Listen, golfers, you’ve got to check this place out. So many reasons why you need to come to Lulu’s, and also lastly, I just want to conclude on this, the view here is amazing. You have water on both sides, you have the water here at Barefoot Landing surrounding these amazing shops, and then you have the Intercoastal Waterway right in the back of your restaurant.
