Myrtle Beach is known as the “Golf Capital of the World,” but what’s it like behind the scenes for the people who help make it a premier golf destination? Tyler Hall, Golf Director for Myrtle Beach Golf Trips, shares his journey in the game, favorite courses, unforgettable on-course moments, and expert tips for planning the ultimate Myrtle Beach golf getaway. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for another round, his insights offer a unique glimpse into the passion and dedication that define the Myrtle Beach golf experience.

1. Your Game
Q: When did you first start playing golf and what are some of your earliest memories of playing?
A: I started playing golf when I was 7 years old after my mom got a job as a cart girl at The Witch Golf Course while she was in nursing school. The game was fun, but let’s be honest—at 7 years old, driving the cart was the real highlight.

2. A Little About You
Q: How long have you been in the golf business and what other positions in golf have you worked in?
A: I’ve been in the golf hospitality business for about 10 years, on and off, working in various positions including Management, sales, support, accounting, and as a Golf Director.

3. Player Experience
Q: What is the most common feedback you hear from visiting golfers, and how do you address it?
A: The most common feedback I get from visiting golfers is about how much the weather can impact a round here in Myrtle Beach, especially with the changing seasons. I always encourage them to plan for a variety of conditions and keep an open mind—some of the best memories come from those unpredictable days.

4. Signature Moments
Q: If a golfer only had one day in Myrtle Beach, which course would you recommend they play—and why?
A: If you could only play one course in Myrtle Beach, I’d recommend Tidewater Golf Club. It’s beautiful, with very few houses, great wildlife, and a fantastic layout.

5. Behind-the-Scenes
Q: What does a “day in the life” look like for you as a Golf Director during peak season?
A: During peak season, it’s all about changes, changes, and more changes. Golfers love to stay and play in Myrtle Beach, but making sure they have the best experience means constant adjustments and staying on top of every detail.

6. Fun Factor
Q: If you could sneak away for a round yourself, where are you playing and who are you bringing along—famous or not?
A: If I could sneak away for a round, it would have to be Augusta with Tiger Woods. Honestly, there’s no other answer.

7. Just for Laughs
Q: What’s the funniest or most unusual thing you’ve ever seen happen on a Myrtle Beach golf course? (that you can share)
A: One of the craziest things I’ve seen on a golf course was a hawk swooping in and snagging a golf ball right off the green. Pretty wild to watch in person.

8. Bucket List
Q: What’s one Myrtle Beach golf experience you think every golfer should try at least once?
A: That’s easy—Pine Lakes, “The Granddaddy.” It’s the OG of golf here in Myrtle Beach, and everyone should play it at least once.

9. Renovations & Upgrades
Q: What recent renovations or course improvements have made the biggest impact on the golfer experience?
A: It’s not finished yet, but I’m really excited about the full new layout at Myrtle Beach National Kings North. Growing up in the area and going to high school just down the road, I can’t wait to play it once it’s complete.

10. Insider Tips
Q: What are three insider tips you’d give to someone planning their first Myrtle Beach golf trip?
A: Don’t focus only on the individual price of each course. Look for package deals and specials that include multiple courses—that’s the best way to save and experience more variety.
