Pine Lakes Country Club
Pine Lakes, nicknamed the “The Granddaddy,” is the oldest golf course along the Grand Strand first opening in 1927. The newly renovated, Scottish-themed layout reopened on March 14, 2009 after 3 years and $20-plus million in renovations. Centrally located between 48th and 62nd avenues in Myrtle Beach, Pine Lakes Country Club is the heart of Myrtle Beach golf.
The 6,675 yard par 70 layout boasts some of Myrtle Beach’s most memorable golf holes. Paspalum grass was used in the redesign from tee to green to add yet another first in Myrtle Beach golf. The signature hole, a 438-yard par 4 overlooked by the center of Myrtle Beach’s skyline, sports a tree lined tee shot down hill to a forgiving straight away fairway. A well-bunkered green awaits a challenging uphill approach shot, over water, sure to test the skill of even the most talented player. Another popular hole is the par 3 #11. This short par 3 is a challenging hole with a sloping green from back to front, over water. Be sure to use enough club or donate another ball to the “Granddaddy”!

excellent...best in MB
John
Great course and well maintained. Played it before when they were fixing it up. Definitely upgraded the course
Chris
After talking with our group - we all agree that Pine Lakes is a nice course with great playing conditions. Thinking about price/value….I/we concluded that Pine Lakes not a $120 course but more like a $80-$90 value.
Terry
Best course in Myrtle Beach
William
A treat to play, challenging. Greens were quick and consistent. Looking forward to my next round at Pine Lakes
James
Great old golf course that still is challenging today
Ernest
My wife and I spent January and February 2023 in Myrtle Beach and we tried to play this course at least every couple weeks. Very enjoyable course and the staff.....from the pro shop, to the starters, to the beverage cart personnel were all very pleasant and made sure each round was a great experience. We are returning to MB this winter and the plan is to try and make sure we play Pine Lakes once a week.
TJ
Nice course in good condition. Very nice people.
Brent
The complete experience and condition of course was very good.
Gary
Nice , clean course
Hector
great fun course. well kept. I played from the senior tees on the recommendation of the starter, it was a great idea.
William
Golf course is in excellent condition, greens smooth and great pace. Enjoyable pace of play.
William

Josh
We loved the course in great condition. Will play shorter tees next time we play here
Ed
enjoyable but challenging. I played the wrong tees however. great shape and will play again
Brad
First time playing Pine Lakes so couldn't compare the before and after with the renovations. Our group loved it, in great shape and we will be back to play again.
Doug
Challenging course and friendly staff
William
Only the second time playing Pine Lakes and first time since the green and bunker restorations...course is a lot of fun to play, greens rolled true and were quite quick. The bunkers looked great(did not happen to hit any thankfully) Tees and fairways were in terrific shape too. We played the #3 tees and some of the par fours are quite a challenge especially #3 with it's length. Look forward to my next round here.
Steve
In town for the world am played a practice round here, can't believe how nice the greens are after just re-opening in July. Enjoyable day, loved the course!
Jack
Greens rolling great, entire course very nice after the upgrades. Fortunately only hit one bunker and got up and down so must say they are nice too!
C
Greens are almost back to perfect. Fairways are awesome. The rough is short but thick and difficult. The sand is extra fine and tricky if you’re not used to it. The pace of play was great on the front and horrible on the back. I heard the pace is better early.
Linda
Pine Lakes is one of my favorite courses so I was happy I happened to be on a visit when it opened. The greens are definitely improved upon as I golfed on the course less than a week before they shut down in the spring and there is much improvement that has been made. The greens still have some healing to do but good to see it progressing. It was a bit slow particularly on the front. We didn’t see a Marshall until hole 9 and he said it was a full course. This is why someone needs to be out there so they can keep people moving or don’t set tee times as close. In our case we had to continually wait as the group in front of us was hitting from tips. We observed them and they should have moved up a tee or not waited as long every hole to hit. The staff is very friendly and I look forward to visiting again soon!
Cecelia
The new Pine Lakes "The Granddaddy" reopened and I played it yesterday (7/13)...pristine ! There are newly rebuilt bunkers surrounded with Zoysia and the greens now have Sunday Bermuda as their grass. What a treat ! Everything is perfect from the downtime while it was redone and the greens roll surprisingly smoothly to be so new...I would guess 9-10 for speed. A few greens around the edges still have a small bit of sand and filling in to do but it does not effect your putting at all. The bunkers are beautiful...I was in only one (#12) and made a sandy with ease. The back two tee boxes on #9 are still under construction so all men hit from the #2 tee there. There is a new Ladies tee on 18 which is perfect and makes the hole much more enjoyable. Highly recommend the course and as always; the staff and the facility are top notch as well...a must play !!!
Mary
Excellent customer service. The greens were not in great shape and they offered $25 gift card to each of us. My husband forgot his belt so the gift card came in handy. They also offered each of us a free round of 18 holes to come back when the course is in better condition.
Robert
Doesn't appear to be up to it's reputation. Great layout, terrible greens. Maybe spring and some fertilizer will bring it back to it's former glory.
Lewis
Great course, friendly staff, real bloody Mary's made with Titos!
Kevin
did not disappoint. great staff. course was in great shape. tough but fair greens.
Roy
This was my first trip back since the renovation. Excellent golf course with a lot of challenging holes.
Keith
awesome course - great staff - beautiful day . what more could we ask for!

Nice old school course....didn't play well so want to come back again. History is really cool
Rick
Course in great shape. Only think they need is a range.
Roger
Nice course very slow back nine due to double tee.
Alton
Great shape tee to green.
Richard
Okay for the price of $59. we paid, but not much more.
Marty
Nice course!
Steve
This was disappointing. I remember this course from years ago and seem to remember it being a far better course than what we experienced.
David
Pretty good. They need a range.
Bill
Pine Lakes is one of the premier courses on the Grand Strand. It was in it's usual fantastic shape.
Jack
Great staff, very accommodating! Course in good shape.
Tim
Beautiful course layout - loved the huge bunkers surrounding the elevated greens
William
Excellent design, presents a challenge to every level of golfer.
Scott
Beautiful course, great condition. Friendly staff.
Dan
Course conditions were good however greens were slow and inconsistent. fairways were wet so played very long from the tips.. will play again.
David
great history. good design. great day
Bryan
Wonderful course and atmosphere. Laid back and friendly as opposed to buttoned up and stuffy. Course in great shape. A definite play again.
David
nice course. good atmosphere. enjoyed it.
David
We were very happy with the course layout and condition. Did not realize there was not a driving range before checking in. Stayed for the prime rib dinner which was okay, sides could gave been better though.
Patrick
Enjoyable. Greens fuzzy. Needed mowing. Welcoming staff.
John
we love the course but they started us on back nine which is ok but they put three groups in front of us when we made the turn, not fair !
Peter
Beautiful, well-designed and expertly manicured.
Austin
Great condition especially given the recent storm.
David
Such a long course. Bunkers are too soft and ball can actually get lost in them (and does).
Steve
Great course.
Richard
Great course. Well maintained
Norman
Very nice course and treated us like members. Would highly recommend. Staff was extremely friendly and professional.
Charlie
Great staff and course in excellent shape.
Michael
well maintained, friendly staff, nice course
Richard
It was cart path only from the night before rain which made it difficult never playing the course before. We got flooded out 4 holes in on back nine and never finished.
Anthony
Great course will definitely play again!!
Joe
Pine Lakes is a good course with a great layout. Fairways and tee boxes are always in great shape and the course is a pleasant journey. The greens are slow, but they warn you they are slow before the round. For some golfers, this could be an issue, but once you get used to it, Pine Lakes is a Myrtle Beach must.
David
Great, very fun to play.
H
The course was in great shape except for the greens, which were bare and cut up. Also, the water jugs were empty. Staff was friendly, and everything else about the course was great.
James
Most disappointing course we played. Although it seemed to be in good shape, none of us in our group were impressed with this course. It is not one we will play again.
Dennis
I like the front nine but the back nine was just ok.
Mike
Great day, course was in good condition, greens rolled true,(would like them faster, but okay) two guys we were paired with were both great and had excellent time. Little slow on front nine but picked up on back when the slow group dropped out. Bar was good and salads were excellent, corona was cold and always welcome. Would play there again.
Keith
Awesome good shape friendly staff
Chuck
Great,friendly, nice greens,
Joe

David
Decent course. Good first course (this year) for me to play
Linda
Excellent course from bag drop to the final putt on 18!
Andrew
Great course, best I played all week
Chuck
Good course friendly fun to play
David
wow. great course.
Chris
Excellent condition. Tough on a first timer...hazards very much in play...gonna beat it next time.
Ed
Course was in good shape. Staff was attentive and courteous
Barton
Dining area staff is arrogant and not into customer service. Went in after playing golf to get get something to eat at 2:20. After being sufficiently ignored we asked for service and was told they closed at three. The attitude was atrocious. For such a great day and experience it was a major disappointment.
Tim
Staff was nice, course was wet!!!, cart path only
Dan
Pine Lakes was nothing less than exceptional. My wife and I got married there last weekend and I had the chance to play the track with my groomsmen. Greens were in excellent condition and rolled pure. Everyone was a pleasure to talk to and provided a great experience for all of us. Highly recommend this track to anyone visiting Myrtle Beach.
Gary
Peter
Terrific shape, course is wonderful. Staff is friendly as ever.
Gary
Pine Lakes is a glorious track that tests all your shots and patience. The greens are always in great shape and the customer service is second to no one.
Tom
Excellent course in great shape for this time of year.
Drew
The course is in fantastic shape, and playing really well. It was a little wet due to the rain recently which is to be expected. Greens were fast and rolling smooth. The overseed has really come in nicely and the fairways are in great shape. Well worth the visit to play and the employees are always fun to chat with. Great experience.
Bill
Over a period of 13 years our group of12 golfers from North East England have taken a two week golfing trip to Myrtle Beach. Over those years we have played over 50 of the excellent courses in South Carolina. Pine Lakes, The Grandaddy is our Number 1 course
Dave
Course was in great shape ! Tees, fairways & greens were perfect. Staff very friendly, course never disappoints when we play there.
Brian
Course is in outstanding shape. We were riding fairways even though we had rain 4 days in a row. Greens are just about perfect and rolled great. Staff is excellent; friendly and helpful. Great bar, we watched the PGA Championship there for a bit after the round..beers were ice cold and great sandwiches.
Trey
We play Pine Lakes every year we visit Myrtle Beach. Course is in great shape and never disappoints. The history of club is very interesting and love the clubhouse!
MB
Course is always in great shape. Nice greens, good fairway over seeding, and even when it rains, course drains very well. I always try for some rounds when here in South Carolina.
Joe
Great course...greens were as consistent and true as I have played...all staff was very friendly and it was a great experience...I played as a single and paired with three gentlemen from Ohio...super playing partners...will absolutely play there again
Scott
Nice open track. Not overly long, but some shot making required. Greens were in good shape, but were VERY slow
Ted
Course is great shape. Tee boxes, fairways & greens are awesome. I haven't played here in a couple of years & but was very pleased with what I saw today. Nice layout. Staff very accommodating.
Ryan
Came down with a group of 32 players. Course was in good shape and enjoyed playing. However, the staff from the moment we got out of our vehicle was the most rude, crude I've ever witnessed. The bag boy was without question the most rude and it was evident all he gave a crap about was loading your clubs for a tip. I wouldn't spend another dime at this place nor will my group next trip. Beware!!!!
Danny
Pro shop staff and bag drop staff were very friendly starter was good. The course was in good shape greens and fairways are excellent. Rough is still very brown. We had been played ten days in a row at many different Founders Group of courses and decided to eat at Pine Lakes after reading the menu. The service was not good and then our order when it came was not as explained by our server. Would recommend the course but service at the grill was not good.
Mike(Oneida,NY)
Let me first state that the staff was very friendly and helpful. Have read other reviews about bad staff and I couldn't disagree more. This is a great course and was in very good shape. The greens were a bit slow but true. Definitely a must play.
John
We played this course as an opener to our golf trip and we were delighted with the experience. From the magnificent clubhouse to the practice area to the staff and to the course itself we had a great day. The course was in great condition and is very fair in that it rewards good shots. The putting surfaces were very good but all putts required attention. Overall the experience was top class and for those making their first visit to Myrtle Beach then I would recommend the course as a good introduction.
Cjl
The golf course was nice, the day was beautiful! The bag drop attendants were curt and very interested in only talking to themselves. The golf marshals at the turn continued the rudeness and unprofessionalism at Pine Lakes. Needless to say, this USED TO BE a favorite on our annual trip to Myrtle Beach!
Jim
Today our foursome just had 4 pars on the 9th hole and we were all excited to be playing such good golf as we headed to the back nine. There was no other groups behind us for 3 holes and the pace of play was good. The starter named Ed (originally from Chantilly VA) was there at the green. He yelled to us 2:16!. I asked what that meant and he barked back you're playing slower than I would like - 4 hours and 15 minutes is what I want. I replied you're saying we're 8 minutes slow...? Well that's outrageous and you're missing the point of why we are here. It's to have fun. Clearly this guy is not in the right job. What he said ruined the day for me and soured the good course conditions and great layout. The fairways and greens were beautiful, the variety of holes was great and overall played long from the white tees. It's amazing that I hadn't played this course before, especially since I've played over 50 courses in the area over the past 30 years. Too bad the starter is such a small thinker and spoiled a fun day; fun thru 9 holes that is.
Tom
Played there for the first time last year, left quite a few strokes out on the course. I intended to rectify that situation, when we go back in October. This is now one of our two must play courses, out of the 6 we usually choose. It was very beautiful course and even being in the center of town, there was quite a bit on wildlife. I would recommend this course to anyone, it was liked by everyone in our group, and our handicaps range from 2 -32.
Gjankowsk
Course was in very good shape. Very disappointed in the staff and overall experience. Played there about 10 years ago and it was great! The starter was fully dressed as a Scotsman. They served soup/chowder on the back nine. Great great time! This round however was just plain and business like and seeing where they cross started it took FOREVER to play the back nine! I believe the ranger knew the very slow foursome in front of us because he kept stopping and talking to them...never sped them up. Will not play there again. The ranger said to us we should not play so fast (we were not) as a response to our comments about slow play in front of us!
Jim
I hadn't played this course for many years since our spring group years ago finally stopped coming because we felt that management was really never interested in whether we had a good time. I went back this year to play the updated course. I was a single, had a tee time around 8:00, and arrived about 25 minutes early. Starter immediately asked me to tee off in a earlier group without any time to warm up or ever hit a practice putt. I didn't want to make a fuss, but I once again felt that course management wasn't interested in whether I had a good time, they just wanted to fill all openings in the tee sheet. In my mind, management still didn't care about the customers. I ended up playing OK but will think twice before I return. Greens were OK, but many fairways had significant poor grass areas. Maybe this is a result of the harsh winter. You definitely can't play summer rules (or play it down) at Pine Lakes. I played the course at 6300 yards. There were two par five's, but also had 4 par four's over 400 years. So, it felt longer that a normal 6300 yard course. Last comment is that the greens crew needs better training. The 16th hole is a pretty par 3. The pin was in the back. The entire back of the green on the right side was perfect. But the greens staff placed the flag on the left in an area that has many pot marks of dead grass. There was no excuse for that pin position.
Mike
Never ever again! Although the course was very nice the staff is horrendous. We played with a foursome of which one was handicapped. The staff was so rude we felt as if we were an employee being spoken to in a condescending manner. To top it off we were literally yelled at for driving our golf cart to the car as we do on every other course. Apparently you are not supposed to but no one told us and there are no signs stating so. I have been golfing in Myrtle Beach for 15 years and I can say never ever again here!!
M
The course itself was fun. However, it took just short of 6 hours to play. The group in front of us was so slow. No ranger, no one at turn to speed up play. Second time to course, will not visit again.
Miles
Rate of play not pushed and well manicured.
Gail
The course has lost all of its ambience. No hot chocolate, no chowder, no kilts. It was get them in and get them out. This is definitely one of those times we should have never gone back and just kept the old great memories.
Clayton
Excellent.
John
Nice course.
David
Course is in awful condition. 2.5 hours to play 9 holes under those conditions. We quit playing.
John
Great.
Shawn
Course in great shape. Extremely friendly and helpful. Nice extras like GPS, ball and club wash on carts unlike some others course. Excellent value for price.
Daniel
I was a single and was paired with a great group of golfer. Lots of laughs on an immaculate course. Definitely recommend and will definitely play a couple of rounds when my family and I return to MB next year.
Thomas
Excellent experience
Jerry
Tees and fairways were in excellent shape, despite some players who do not repair their divots on the greens. Staff very helpful.
Wesley
Lay out of the course.
Bill
Slow play, marshalls did nothing to improve pace of play. No driving range, taking out of rotation.
David
My father, who recently passed, was a member here for almost 20 years ending in 2008. He loved this course and so do I. The facilities, the course, the service are outstanding and I needed to come here with my son and play it again.
Rick
The rough and fairways were sparse probably due to weather conditions this year. Greens were in good shape.
David
David (VA) I didn't spend time in the pro shop due to the attitude of the staff encountered, primarily due to their overwhelming attitude and lack of appropriate communication skills. The grill was only barely passable as such, due to food served on cold buns and no options as to how you would prefer them to be prepared. All when the attendant finally decided to serve you, only after she meticulously cleaned the cash register keys. As for the staff... Other than the minority of a couple individuals, the staff should be meticulously trained in the basics of client etiquette!!! Unless they would prefer to operate as a private club and spare the public from spending their hard earned money to support them. Tees, greens and fairways were in great shape, but by April 19th, the water that had accumulated on the course resulted in cart path only constraints, other than particular holes on the back side and only where ropes were down to allow cart travel in well drained portions of the course, to allow 90 degree access to the opposite side locations, in order to improve speed of play. Subsequent observation of cart travels in such areas resulted in the Ranger going off on us for being in a location that was quite apparently used for cart travel, where permanent cart paths were not constructed or defined. Perhaps they should spend some of their money to finish permanently constructed cart paths that would certainly prevent any miscommunication regarding where the carts are to travel and purchase themselves some additional spikes and rope to insure that their intent is securely communicated. Anyone failing to abide by such constraints could them be escorted off the course without any question as to who said what to whom. Someone would have to pay me to play there again! I've played golf for over 40 years, including collegiate and other competitive events, including locations with quite a bit more esteem than Pine Lakes, without such personnel issues as I've experienced on this trip to Myrtle Beach.
Bruce
Very helpful and friendly
Buzz
Spectacular
Tim
Really great
Henry
Liked the re-do of course (last time in 2003); starter was very knowledgeable of course/history. Move the chowder back outside Vehicle access to the clubhouse parking lot is wierd, it doesn't match the street address on GPS and their map is confusing
Joe
Fantastic
Peter
Greens were coming in but were the worst of all the courses played, they had not been cut or rolled.
Tinker
Waitress and cart attendants unconcerned.
John
Unique greens grasses
Jim
Been going to myrtle beach for 6 years played approx. 30 courses. pine lakes most taken care of course i have EVERED . I felt like I was a PGA tour player
Joe
Liked the course
Rick
Nice layout with great pines and holes set up well from the tee. Plenty of grass on greens, just too slow. Good pace of play even on busy day. Some tough holes on the back 9.
Mark
Exceptional
Gordon
Really enjoyed Pine Lakes. Terrific shape.
Joerg
Better directions to the club house. But I go told they are working on it.
Bob
This was one of the only course I thought was over-priced.
Ryan
Outstanding
Kevin
I would like to see a new tee box or a hybrid set created on the score card. Tee 2 is too short and Tee 3 is 600 yards more. Creating a hybrid on the score card for an in between distance would be good
Alan
Did not like the grass on the greens
Thomas
Course was in excellent condition. Course is very fair for the average golfer. Food in club house was very good. Repeat customers would recommend to friends and family.
Robert
Excellent overall condition, great layout. Enjoyed playing it. Greens were perfect. Fairways perfect.
Gary
First time playing here. We really liked it. Everyone was pleasant and the course was in great shape. Great Bermuda greens. Careful getting to it. They have a new entrance on Grissom Parkway which I didn't know.
Phil
Always a great time here....Great layout , very good condition, staff helpful and friendly. Very enjoyable all around.
Tom
Course was in great shape, staff was very friendly.
John
I played Pine Lakes on Tuesday, August 13th. The entire course was in wonderful condition but the greens really beautiful. They were very receptive to incoming shots. Although a little on the slow side, they putted very true and were easy to read. The staff was very professional from the bag guys to the pro shop to the snack bar. Overall, a very positive experience.
Charles
Played theGrandDaddy about 15(+) years ago. Heard that the course had undergone a complete re-design. Not even recognizable as the same course ( not a bad thing, actually really like the new layout). Missed the old course, with the Rolls Royce golf carts, Mimosas served on the 1st tee, and the beautiful Augusta National like landscaping. For those who are looking for the nostalgia of that old course and it's amenities, they are GONE. The new course is beautiful and challenging, even from the ##3 tees. Only BIG disappointment were the aerated greens, some of which were almost with nothing but sand and a little grass. How do you putt on a green like that ? Some of the greens were almost fully grown back. I was told they aerated the greens back in early June, and was surprised ( and not happy to find that by the end of July they were still in this condition. **They should post what conditions the greens are in before you book your tee time. Playing the morning after the 7 hour torrential rain storm, the bunkers were all flooded and wet sand was like wet concrete, but this is understandable, and during our round, the grounds crew was out raking and grooming the sand traps back in place after much of the sand had washed away from the edges. Would I play there again ? YOU BET !
Brian
Great course great shape!
Greg
The tees and fairways were amazing. The course is well marked.
Austin
Great course conditions and layout... only complaint would be bag drop/starters. They appeared miserable, offered no instruction on the course, and were downright rude.
Thomas
Prefer facilities with a driving range.
Larry
Visited from Washington State. Great course. Staff was fantastic. Started with an excellent breakfast at the club and then met our pairing. Members Joe and Charlie were great gentlemen to play with and made us feel relaxed. Highly recommended.
James
First time playing the course. Will definitely Play again. Beautiful Course. Longer course in length.
Ryan
Played as a single and was paired with a group of locals by the starter. Thoroughly enjoyed playing the course, which is tough but playable. Fairways and greens are in fantastic shape, but the fringes were a little rough at times (appeared to be under repair). Pro shop staff were courteous and understood exactly what I wanted in my purchases. Only complaint was that the grounds crew were working during my round in the afternoon. I've rarely seen that in an upscale course. They shut off mowers and trimmers as we were about to hit, but didn't appreciate them mowing our area during play. (minor complaint) Overall, it was an exceptional experience for the price I paid, which was a last-minute reservation at $39
Carroll
Greens punched? Course was in great shape. Lost a lot of tradition. Scottish attire...clam chowder??? Where did it go?
Elizabeth
Beautiful course and impressively well kept!
Jeff
Tremendous service and excellent staff from the moment we entered the course. Everyone went above and beyond and always greeted you with a smile. The course was in amazing shape and could not have asked for a better day or a more enjoyable round of golf. Would definitely recommend Pine Lakes Country Club to anyone in the Myrtle Beach Area.
Bracken
Great course!! Greens were amazing and the course was lush and layout was great
Robert
I change Pines Lakes to the TPC and I find it very challenging and I enjoy it
Jean
Too long for average player
John
Nice course, all around good experience. Played in late March on cold day. Course was in best shape of 5 played. Will definitely be back!
Roberta
Very women friendly. arrived late to course. staff was very gracious.
Robbie
Will play again
Bruce
The course was in great shape, for dormant season. Great service everywhere, particularly in the grill. It's tough to find courses in resort areas without houses/villas lining the holes and this was a great unobstructed exception.
Robert
We did not know that there was not a driving range to hit balls before our round.
Gary
Very nice course. Conditions and layout very good.
Gail
Really liked the course - greens were excellent. As mentioned above, the course was too busy, so we left after ##13 - made for very slow play - it would have been at least a five hour round.
Jim
For march I think everything was great can't wait for next year
Steve
Great course, great condition even for early in the year. Curious as to why there where no GPS units on cart?
Rick
Always love playing Pine Lakes while in Myrtle Beach, love the history. The course layout is great.
Tom
Fiftieth anniversary of playing Pine Lakes. It remains one of my favorites. Terrific redesign!
Darrell
Immaculate
Paul
Great course - looked for old entrance - Was not aware of changes.
Jeff
Always a favorite on my List to Play. The Grounds and Facilities are always Top Notch. But I never seem to catch all of the Staff, on a good day.
Joseph
Very enjoyable course!
Brian
We really enjoyed the course and I was surprised how peaceful it was ... being right smack in the middle of Myrtle Beach. They do need to have some direction signs going to #6 tees ... a bit confusing with no signs until after passing #4 tee.
Anthony
Wonderful experience. Course was forgiving and interesting. Pleased that I played a legend.
Doug
A great layout and in great condition. Biggest problem was the course was overbooked. We had a 9:20 a.m. tee time and they were running 20 to 30 minutes behind already. Of course an over 5 hour round was in store. The routing doesn't help as a par 3 is the second hole on both nines which is proven to slow play down. Don't know that we will come back next year.
Gary
Course was a pleasant surprise - I had not played in years and could not even recognize the front nine. Great changes.
Mike
I had been telling my 2 sons for 8 months how fantastic the experience of Pine Lakes would be since I had been there a few times before without them. What a disaster it was. I was never told that the greens and fairways were recently aerated. Out of the 2 guys who met us to take our clubs upon arrival, one was not very pleasant, but the other was very nice. After paying we came out to see our clubs still laying on the ground. This after I had told my sons and a friend that Pine Lakes will never let you touch your clubs once you get there. Then when we finally tee off, we looked for a beverage cart - none. Granted it was 3:30, but we were told there would be one. So after 9 we went in to grab a hot dog, and the woman said she put them away 10 minutes ago but would gladly microwave some for us, but it would take her 10 minutes to get everything back out. We declined and went to the 10th tee and finished our round. That's when we really got a shock - the clubhouse was closed and locked up! We couldn't even use the bathroom! Needless to say, I won't be back. I'm going to really miss not playing it though. I guess I'll have the memories of when it was enjoyable to go to Pine Lakes.
Adrian
This course used the new grass that was used at Kiawah Island ocean. Very different and it appears to be a very tough grass.
Tony
This was a great course, well kept, well staffed and extremely well run. Every hole had its own challenge and it was a very fair course to play. I would recommend it to anyone. My thanks to Jim Fite for setting me up to play here.
Henry
We found the course to be in fantastic shape exactly as the pro shop told us it would be. Really enjoyed the course. Thanks for a great day.
Stephen
The course was in great shape. The layout was enjoyable to play. The yardages were easy to find and follow. The greens were difficult for me to read and to find the pace. Enjoyed my play. Thanks.
Mike
Everyone was great.
Rodney
Very friendly staff. Course was beautiful and in great shape.
Robert
Outstanding.
Jeremy
Amazing.

(Would like to have had) a map of the holes. You have great yardage makers from tee to green but no true hole layout at the tee markers. I hit a few great drives that due to some blind shots ended up OB or in water that was not marked at the tee box.
Richard
Played this gem last year on a golf trip. It is great golf course and you don't feel like you are in Myrtle Beach once you get on property. Fun, fun, must play. We plan on going back.
Frank
Course was in excellent shape. You need to know there is no driving range. I arrived an hour early to warm up and found myself standing around after 30 minutes of putting.
William
Had played here before. Gorgeous course.
Christopher
Highly recommend this course. Would like to have known that tee off would be 2 holes at a time.
Matt
Very nice, well kept course.
Roy
The course was in great shape. All around great experience.
Terry
Had no idea how to enter the course. There was signage on Bus. 17 but no directions. Had to stop and ask three different people where the entrance was and was almost late for our tee time.
Charles
A little slow play. Forgot to give clubhouse the ticket when we checked in. Starter said it was fine, but he got an attitude from clubhouse. Greens in great shape. Front better than the back. Enjoyed the course.
Michael
Old style course that was in great shape with the amount of rain that they'd had. Everyone in the clubhouse, grille, etc. was phenomenal. They do have a starter that's as old and crusty as the bark on the pine trees that line the fairway though. He's not too excited about his job to put it mildly, but the overall experience was a good one and I'd play there again.
Mike
I was extremely disappointed with Pine Lakes. I have been talking about this course to my 2 sons for a long time, and they were not happy either. First off, we were not told the entire course was just aerated a week before. We teed off around 3:30, and when we finished wanted to grab something to eat and use the restroom. But the doors were locked, closed! So off to the nearest gas station and McDonald's we went. The older gentleman who took our bags seemed very unfriendly, but the younger guy was very helpful.
Phillip
It would have been nice to know before booking that the greens had just been aerated before spending $50 per green fee. Also the policy on not letting you drop your clubs off at your car when finished is dumb, it just gives them another tip for their attendants who already got in your pocket at the bag drop in the morning! Overall the course was in good shape but the greens were slow and bumpy due to aeration holes.
Herb
Loved it. Had just been aerated, but really enjoyed it.
Jeff
Beautiful conditions, helpful starter.
Jim
I am from Charleston, I play Kiawah, Hilton Head and others. I have never played a course in better condition in my recollection. Great layout, great facility and pristine condition. Thanks for the good day.
Chad
Would like to have known distances to water edges and other waste areas from tees.
Mark
The course was well maintained and the staff was great.
Waymond
Excellent course. A driving range I did not see. I like the fact several holes ended back near the clubhouse in case u needed a bathroom break or to get refreshments quickly.
M
Very nice layout, greens were in excellent condition, I am a serious golfer and this was an enjoyable round.
Jimmy
Course was in excellent shape - play was slower than I like but overall a great day spent with my son.
John
Very nice course, fun to play, #14 is as good as it gets.
Brian
The course was in excellent condition. However we teed off a half hour past our scheduled tee time.
Paul
Great course, in terrific condition. Challenging, but enjoyable for a pair of high handicap golfers.
John
Very good.
Will
Great staff. Course in immaculate shape. Best greens I've seen in a while.
Derek
The course has changed dramatically since I last played it in August of 1987 (with a couple of college buddies). The course is in a lot better shape now than it was back then, but I feel the originality of the course has been compromised. I still enjoyed my round very much; this course is highly recommended.
Joseph
Loved the new Pine Lakes - thank you.
Timothy
A beautiful all-around course kept in great condition. Not any really memorable' holes but still a player friendly course that any golfer could enjoy.
Allen
The golf course was in excellent shape. My wife told me she hated taking a divot because the fairways were so nice. Also the staff was great and we enjoyed talking with them. The carts rode smoothly and the surroundings of the course were great. We took lots of pictures. The best thing of all was ... our 7-year-old grandson chipped in from the bunker on #18 for his first birdie ever ... a memory that will last forever! Thanks.
Nathan
Groundsmen could work on there awareness of people teeing off.
John
Course is a very fair course to play. For a super-senior (78) some of the par threes were a little long but still enjoyed the play.
Thomas
Course was excellent. Always enjoy playing there. Staff was courteous and very helpful. Do miss the Rolls Royce carts and the glass of champagne on the par three. Thought it added a classy touch to the playing atmosphere. Greens were superior to all others I played on during my week stay. Will definitely play it again during my vacation in July.
Diane
I should have been notified that the greens were aerated. I was very disappointed that we weren't compensated for the poor conditions.
Les
Love the renovations.
Glenn
Most overrated, over-priced golf course in Myrtle Beach.
Ben
Nice place. Not a fan on the paspalum grass. Super sticky and the starter told us the greens were super fast, that they were a 9! That's really fast! NOT! Stupid how they have to load your own bag for you. Place looks nice, but if you are a good golfer, it isn't that great.
Robert
The course is very perfect and the weather too, but no restroom in back course.
Jason
Excellent condition, very playable yet challenging inside 100 yds. I greatly appreciate you letting my father and nephew (neither play golf) ride around with us for free. It made our day!
Robert
Nicest golf experience of my 4-day trip to Myrtle. The Granddaddy came through. Highly recommended.
Indra
Average golf course.
Kathy
Great course and great service!
Jack
I enjoyed playing off the salt-resistant grass. It felt like I was playing on indoor/outdoor carpeting. The greens were very true and in great condition.
Serge
Tee offs, faiways, bunkers and greens were almost perfect, we would like to have faster greens. However the good thing is they all have the same speed which is great and uncommon. We would have appreciated to know more about the right club to use in some circumstances but it is all about the knowledge and experience of a golf track. We loved the course and particularly the number 11 hole. We would appreciate to have the possibility to hit some balls at a driving range even if it was only with irons. We do intend to come back and play Pine Lakes next year. For the poor note for the grill it concerns only the barman at this time who has not been kind and smiling with us (maybe it was not a good day for him, it was about 5 p.m.).
Larry
Greens were much too slow.
T
We played on 3/30. The starter stated the course was in mint condition. Overall conditioning was better on the front nine holes. Sand traps needed raking throughout the course and approach areas around most greens were very thin and like playing on mostly dirt. Paying more for the past history and name. Conditions were not as expected for a so-called high-end course. Probably the worse of the 5 courses we played.
Mike
Our group of 20 golfers played Pine Lakes as the last course for the trip. We miss the kilts but staff and course conditions were great. I would recommend Pine Lakes as a must-play. The professional staff was helpful in making sure we enjoyed our day and very knowledgeable of the area and recommending restaurant ideas for us that night. Thanks for a great final round.
Tom
The Granddaddy! We love this course and the redesign. From the moment we arrived and met with the bag drop wearing knickers it started our day off right. One of the Top 3 courses in Myrtle Beach! A must-play ... top-notch staff from inside and out.
Mike
It is Myrtle Beach golf to me, first class. Also it was the first course I ever played there.
Gary
Age of the course makes for mature trees and layout in general.
Al
New greens were in good shape. I hasn't played this in 10+ years.
Ray
This was our second time to play this course.
A.J.
Slow play every time we play on Saturdays.
Louise
We are playing in the area for two weeks. This course is in the best condition that we saw up to now (played Caledonia, True Blue and Dunes). Perfect conditions I would say. Greens are awesome. Staff warm and welcoming. Must-play.
Stephen
The staff were all very knowledgeable about the history of Pine Lakes and were willing to share stories about the 2-year reconstruction of the golf course. The course was in amazing condition and we very much enjoyed our experience here.
Walter
Classic course, a must-play every time.
Michael
Didn't know there was no driving range until we got to the course.
Chris
Played the Granddaddy today and it was GREAT. It's not called the Granddaddy for nothing. Greens a little slow. A MUST-play.
Michael
Liked the redesign.
Tom
I liked the old-style course with the fancy golf carts, made you feel special.
Glenn
One of the most over-rated courses in Myrtle Beach. Course is average at best, staff is below average with attitudes. Nothing like the GRANDDADDY of a few years ago. We've taken this golf trap off our list.
Brent
Course was in fantastic shape. I have played every month for the last 6 months, and the greens had a few problems throughout summer, they were new greens, but they are now almost perfect. The rest of the course is plush as well!
Rory
Very nice, challenging course layout. Tees and fairways were in fine condition, the only drawback was the condition of the greens which left a lot to be desired. On a better note, our group was informed prior to tee time of the conditions and we were taken care of. Look forward to playing when it's all done.
David
First time there since the renovations - very friendly bag drop personnel, club house immaculate. Fairways and tees were good, but the greens, especially in places were very very poor, almost unplayable. The whole experience is spoiled by the greens.
Megan
Course was great! Staff was great. We played this on our way out as a last-minute round and were told that they weren't in their peak condition due to overseeding of the greens. Everything rolled true and it was a great time. I will definitely make this a must-play on our group's list.
Kevin
Course is still maturing after renovation ... Beautiful clubhouse. Should space tee times a lttle farther apart. Many times had 3 or 4 groups on a hole. 5 1/2-hour rounds are brutal!! (3 hours front / 2 1/2 hours back). With new design (not as tight), there is no reason for play to be this slow. Very disappointing for all the nice changes to the facility. Hope they do not turn into factory golf & overbook tee times.
Wayne
I really liked the clubhouse.
Bill
Weather (cold and wind) a big factor, but what a great course. I hadn't played there in 20 years, so we really appreciated the supplied layout book. Missed ol' Big Dog, but complimentary clam chowder was a treat.
Jeff
An excellent course and excellent hospitality.
James
excellent staff...no hesitation on raincheck after only 4 holes played on wed...came back next day to play late 9...liked course, needs some time to grow in changes...excellent staff...first rate bar- but do not put away chowder until everybody done!!! we were in bar by 5:30 (finished in dark) and very hungry...missed it with a drink at the bar...we will back to see it all sometime soon....,excellent staff...no hesitation on raincheck after only 4 holes played on wed...came back next day to play late 9...liked course, needs some time to grow in changes...excellent staff...first rate bar- but do not put away chowder until everybody done!!! we were in bar by 5:30 (finished in dark) and very hungry...missed it with a drink at the bar...we will back to see it all sometime soon....,excellent staff...no hesitation on raincheck after only 4 holes played on wed...came back next day to play late 9...liked course, needs some time to grow in changes...excellent staff...first rate bar- but do not put away chowder until everybody done!!! we were in bar by 5:30 (finished in dark) and very hungry...missed it with a drink at the bar...we will back to see it all sometime soon....,excellent staff...no hesitation on raincheck after only 4 holes played on wed...came back next day to play late 9...liked course, needs some time to grow in changes...excellent staff...first rate bar- but do not put away chowder until everybody done!!! we were in bar by 5:30 (finished in dark) and very hungry...missed it with a drink at the bar...we will back to see it all sometime soon....
Willard
Very nice course that we will definitely play again. The course handled the rain much better than any other course that we played.
Carla
My husband and the others that played thought it was awesome.
Junior
Nice upgrade over the old course. Looking forward to coming back later in the spring.
