Go From Golfing Gloom to Boom at These Five Myrtle Beach Golf Training Centers

Nobody wants to get beat up by a golf course. And if you’re planning a buddy trip to Golf Capital, U.S.A., the thoughts of getting worked over by your friends might be making you sick.

For those who don’t have the most fluid swing or the time in the weeks leading up to the trip to find a better rhythm, Myrtle Beach may already have something for what ails you. Several on-site spots around the area can work a kink or two out of your game in as little as 30 minutes.

So plan in advance, make an appointment early in the vacation and then tell your friends you’ve got a fourth cousin you need to spend some time with while you’re in town.

GRANDE DUNES RESORT CLUB
The Grande Dunes Golf Performance Center, run by PGA Professional Dale Ketola (top photo), is to golf what metal drivers were in the 1980s. Sure, other sites like this have been incorporated for the ultra-privileged before. But not the high-tech, all-inclusive program is available to anyone who needs anything from a light tinkering to a full-scale golf makeover. The center mixes the best part of the real feel of outdoor lessons with the privacy of covered bungalow.

LEGENDS GOLF & RESORT
It’s really no surprise that Legends boasts one of the better practice facilities in the area. Its three-course home site (it also is under control of a south-end course and another just across the border in North Carolina) is one of the better options not only getting players on and off the courses, but also into its oversized clubhouse bar and grill. The Classic Swing Golf School is just as efficient, utilizing a staff of instructors that is 10-deep.

TPC MYRTLE BEACH
In addition to being one of South Carolina’s best layouts, TPC Myrtle Beach is home to the Dustin Johnson Golf School, one of the Palmetto State’s premier instructional facilities. With the support of DJ and the leadership of his coach, Allen Terrell, the state-of-the-art school is equipped with the latest technology and it uses the TPC practice facility, the Myrtle Beach area’s best. Terrell works with everyone from beginners to a two-time major champion, so he is more than prepared to provide your game a quick tune-up.

TRADITION GOLF CLUBTradition Golf Club
Known in the area as one of the great instructors for juniors, Charles Chappelle has also spent time as a coach for one of the area’s best high school teams. However, his Rock Solid Golf School is not to be typecast. Meanwhile, the property at Tradition inspires improvement. The practice facility (pictured right) includes a full-length driving range and chipping green. Most notable, though, is the two-tiered green, where players can get ready some of what they would on the course.

TRUE BLUE GOLF CLUB
Home of the Steve Dresser Golf Academy, True Blue serves as the home of the longest continually running schools on the Grand Strand. In fact, it predates the Pawleys Island course itself by nine years. However, True Blue’s stout reputation as one of the area’s nicest courses serves as a perfect pairing for one of the esteemed schools locally for players to either fine-tune their games or beginners looking to gain a foundation.
