The Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship has sold out, and all 3,000 players, hailing from 49 states and 17 countries, have one goal: to advance to the World Championship Playoff at the Grande Dunes Resort Course.

The Roger Rulewich design has been selected to host the championship round of golf’s largest single-site tournament, ensuring a champion will be crowned on a course that is the equal of the moment.

World Am players are placed in tightly grouped flights based on age, gender and handicap, and will compete over 72 holes with all flight winners and ties advancing to the championship playoff, an 18-hole shootout to crown the event’s World Champion. The 43rd annual event will be played August 31 – September 4.

Grande Dunes, which features five holes that play along an elevated bluff overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, has long been on the short list of the Myrtle Beach area’s best courses, and the experience went to another level following a 2021 renovation that included new bunkers, reconstructed greens, and a completely remodeled clubhouse.

The clubhouse renovation included the opening of Terrazza 19, a new restaurant, and an expanded patio that includes outdoor seating and televisions, enhancing an already memorable experience.

Home to some of the Grand Strand’s widest fairways and expansive greens, the layout at Grande Dunes has long drawn raves for its creativity and appeal to players of all levels. With seven sets of tees ranging from 5,353 yards to 7,578 yards, the course is an ideal host for the World Championship, which will feature players ranging from scratch to 30+ handicaps.

In addition to hosting the World Am, Grande Dunes has also served as the host of the MyrtleBeachGolfTrips.com Intercollegiate, a 54-hole, 16-team collegiate event that has attracted teams from across the nation.
