Rivers Edge Golf Club Plans Major Greens Renovation for 2027

Rivers Edge Golf Club in Shallotte, North Carolina, is preparing for another significant investment in its Arnold Palmer design, announcing plans for a major course revitalization in 2027 highlighted by a complete greens renovation.

The course is scheduled to close beginning May 17, 2027, with a planned reopening in early fall 2027. The project will include the installation of new TifEagle Bermudagrass greens, marking the latest step in an ongoing effort to enhance course conditions while preserving the character of the layout that has made Rivers Edge a favorite among Myrtle Beach-area golfers since opening in 1999.

The upcoming renovation builds on several improvements completed at the property in recent years, including interior and exterior clubhouse renovations and enhancements to the Double Eagle Grille.

On the course, Rivers Edge has invested in cart path improvements, bunker upgrades, landscaping and other infrastructure enhancements. One of the more notable projects involved restoring bulkheads on holes 9, 15 and 18 to reflect Palmer’s original 1999 design. The club also replaced artificial turf on the forward tees of the par-5 15th with natural grass.

Known for its dramatic views of the Shallotte River, memorable marshland holes and challenging shot-making opportunities, Rivers Edge has long been one of the more distinctive layouts along the northern end of the Grand Strand. The course was named the 2023 Golf Course of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association, further highlighting its standing among the region’s golf destinations.

The planned 2027 greens renovation represents another important investment in the club’s future, with the goal of improving playing conditions while maintaining the design features that have defined Rivers Edge for more than 25 years.
