Number 14 on Wild Wing’s Avocet course is considered by most as its signature hole.  From its elevated teeing ground, this hole gives players the option to be aggressive and try to drive the green, or lay up in one of its two fairways.   With water on the right, deep trees on the left, and a hog’s-back green, No. 14 provides everyone with a challenge. A close second to this hole would be the double green shared by Holes #6 and #17. With multiple pin locations on each hole, this double green will provide everyone with lots to talk about after the round.

Beautiful course. Challenging design. Will be back

Tom (Virginia Beach , VA)

We had the last tee time but arrived early and the attendants got us on early. This allowed us to finish before dark. Great course and service.

Dennis (Myrtle Beach, SC)

Course was drenched after a night of rain. Greens were very slow but putted true. I would like to play the course when it’s dry, I bet it’s a great course and I enjoyed the layout.

Tim (Massena, NY)

Each hole is unique. Greens were excellent

Dt (California, MD)

What a great course and my 12-year old played for free. Staff 5/5, course 5/5 and overall 5/5. Thanks for the awesome experience...

Jerry (Liberty, NC)

staff was great. course was fair but challenging and great condition. short holes were hard for us being our first time playing the course.

Mike (Hyde Park, NY)

great course...great condition...friendly staff

Randy (Somerset, PA)

Like the layout, greens in decent shape compared to others in area.

Shane (Grovetown, GA)

Hadn't played this one a while, not sure why. Avocet was in nice condition. Great layout with a wonderful mixture of holes. Great course for a fair rate.

Meredith (Cayce, SC)

Great course

Andrew (Indian Trail, NC)

Course was in spectacular shape. We were out early in the morning and pretty much had the course to ourselves. No negatives at all. Cant wait to play it again.

Paul (Saint James, NY)

nice greens some still recovering from some aeration. wish cart girl was on duty could have used some cold ones on hot day but overall recommend

Jim (Auburn, IN)

Thoroughly enjoyed Avocet and would recommend for anyone to play there

Bill (Chapin, SC)

Greens were recently punched but recovering nicely. The course will be in excellent condition in a few more weeks. We enjoyed our round.

Mitchell (Atlanta, GA)

nice layout, fair, fun,

Jeff (Winston-Salem , NC)

The course played a little longer than expected.

Dave (Pittsburgh, PA)

Absolutely wonderful golf course. I chose to play it because of the designer, 3-time major champion Larry Nelson and I was not disappointed. The greens were in excellent shape; hard, fast, but playable. The rough was thick, but fair. The course is tight, so if you’re off with your drives significantly you’re in trouble. I loved the use of mounds and bunkers, made it tricky if you were not in the fairway, but still allowed you to go for the greens most times. I loved this course. I would absolutely play it again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to play in the Myrtle Beach area.

Wesley (Kathleen, GA)

The course was is outstanding shape.

Jean-Marc (Quebec, QC)

Ir was the third time we play the course. It was good shape but the year before it was better. Great service from the Staff.

Joel (Toronto, ON)

Course had a great layout and a lot of fun interesting holes and shots. Greens weren't great but not bad either. Just expected them to be better.

Scott (Charlotte, NC)

I like the raised mounds and ponds. The fairways were excellent.

Erik (Arden, NC)

Lots of hills and undulations on the sides of a gorgeously maintained fairway.Beautiful Course. No Homes on the course, very serene.

Tracy (Mt. Pleasant, ON)

The experience was good. I’d play the course again

Eric (Shinnston, WV)

Really like everything, course conditions have improved in recent years

Walt (Forest Hill, MD)

The course was challenging but in great shape. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this course. Unfortunately the service in the bar/grille was too slow and we left after waiting just to get a menu.

Craig (Columbus, OH)

Very challenging course. It was still in great shape even after all the rain we had earlier in the week. I would definitely play here again.

I always enjoy playing here, very challenging

Dennis (Asbury Park, NJ)

Nice mix of water hazards.

Gary (Louden, TN)

Great challenging course. Each hole was unique!

Joseph (Bluffton, IN)

Always been in great condition.

Paul (Western Springs, IL)

We were discussing whether or not to play this course. We were amazed on how great the course was. This is in the top 3 courses of 8 courses we played

Mel (Ridgeway, ON)

(Liked the course) condition

Brian (Henrico, VA)

Course was in good condition given the recent rains. Pace of play was very slow due to a large group of disabled golfers in front of our group. Our round was 5:30 minutes.

Wayne (Aiken, SC)

The course was in great shape. The bag staff was MIA. We had to get a cart and load our own clubs.

Mark (N. Myrtle Beach, SC)

Great conditions always make for a good experience

Played Avocet as part of family reunion. The six of us had a great time! Course is in great shape, beverage cart service was phenomenal, staff in pro shop was great. The pub was very nice with good food and COLD beer on a 100 degree day. Will definitely return and highly recommend this course. Probably the one thing that could improve are the cart path conditions.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The pro shop is HUGE and has a ton of great stuff. Not too mention the course was in phenomenal shape, some of the best Bermuda grass greens I have played on. Definitely a place to visit!

Anthony (New Kensington, PA)

I would have liked to know that I could not get my money back when one person in my 3 some was injured and could not make the tee time. I had to pay anyway. The pro shop attendant stated that I could get a VOUCHER for that missing person but NO money about that for business? I payed for a product that I did not receive. I promise I will never recommend Ambassador to anyone. I golf around the country and have not encountered this treatment before. Very disappointed with this experience. The golf course was exceptional though.

William (Myrtle Beach, SC)

The golf course was great the rest of the experience was very poor. No cart girl no players club no way to get drinks on 100+ heat index only water on course was by number 7 hole by that time we were over heated.

Paul (Honeybrook, PA)

Very nice layout, heavy rain the night before but course was still nice. A must play. Will visit again in the fall.

Harold (Lexington, SC)

Course was wet, but played great. greens were a little slow after aerifying and rain. My son and I had a great time.

Leonard (Carbondale, CO)

Course was in excellent shape. Best greens of 8 courses played.

Walter (Martins Ferry, OH)

Very nice course. It had some interesting holes. Challenging but fair.

Richard (New Milford, CT)

Overall excellent course. Cart paths really showing there age though. Staff and clubhouse made it a very enjoyable experience.

Gordon (Stuarts Draft, VA)

Loved the greens! Everyone was very accomodating.

Ted (Johnstown, PA)

Awesome course. Awesome condition!!!

Marvin (Tampa, FL)

Course was very wet due to rainy conditions last couple days and we got rained out but Pro Shop gave us full rain check.

Kenneth (Tequesta, FL)

Pro Shop and guys at bag drop were very nice and helpful, as was the starter and the ranger. Golf course is decent but really needs much work! Cart paths on the back 9 are horrendous! No restrooms on back 9? Really!?

Nice course but horrible pace of play. Starting on the 3rd hole, when spacing between tee times became moot, we waited several minutes on EVERY shot. When we got to (literally) every tee, group ahead was either still waiting to hit or were just teeing off. That is with marshals coming around quite often. We had a lightning delay on 12 where marshal held up play, but irrespective of that, it was a 5 1/2 hour round (lightning delay extended it to over 6 hours). Unacceptable!!!

Michael (Brighton, MI)

Greens and fairways and tees all were in great shape. Pace was good and friendly people. Thanks for great day.
