The renovation of Wild Wing’s Avocet Course continues to make impressive progress, with the course’s new Tif3D bermudagrass greens filling in nicely just two weeks after being sprigged.
According to General Manager Mark Andrews, favorable weather has helped accelerate the grow-in process, with the combination of sunshine and timely rainfall giving the new putting surfaces an ideal start.
“We’ve had the right amount of sun and rain over the last two weeks, and they’ve really started to hit their stride,” Andrews said.
The Avocet Course will be the first in the Myrtle Beach area to feature Tif3D bermudagrass, a next-generation putting surface known for being denser, darker, and more durable than previous Tif varieties. As the greens continue to mature, golfers will get a better sense of the premium conditions they’ll experience when the course reopens this fall.
Elsewhere on the course, construction crews continue making steady progress on the bunkers. Every bunker has now received its capillary concrete liner, with sand
currently being installed throughout the layout. The new bunker system is designed to improve drainage, consistency, and long-term playability.
The transformation extends beyond the golf course itself. Renovations to the Wild Wing clubhouse are also underway, complementing the extensive improvements taking place across the property.
With the new greens filling in rapidly, bunkers nearing completion, and the clubhouse receiving a fresh new look, the excitement continues to build as Wild Wing’s Avocet Course moves closer to welcoming golfers back this fall.
