Do you stripe it on the driving range but struggle once you get out on the course? LPGA Teaching Professional Meredith Kirk explains why: you’re not practicing with pressure. In this simple drill, Meredith shows golfers how to simulate on-course pressure during practice by using a target, a scoring goal, and a three-ball challenge. The drill creates accountability during range sessions and helps your practice translate into lower scores when it matters most on the golf course.

Do you go to the driving range all the time, but you're not able to take your game out on the course? I'm getting ready to tell you why. I'm Meredith Kirk, LPGA Class A Teaching Professional, and I am at TPC Myrtle Beach today to give you this very helpful tip.
The goal is this: you need to create pressure when you're out on the range. This is a really easy drill. What you can do is set up three balls. You want to make sure that you pick a target. I have a target about 100 yards down here on the range — it's the blue flag. I'm really just going to focus on making sure I can get as close to the pin as possible. I like to sometimes say, “Okay, if I can hit it within 12 yards of the pin, that's good. That will be my goal.”
With three balls, you need to make sure that two of them get within that range, and you keep practicing and practicing. Let me show you how this works.
All right, so going for that blue flag. Nice easy shot. I need to get within 12 yards.
Yeah, that's good. All right, so I've got one.
Oh, that one's probably not going to make it. Nope. All right, so now I'm really feeling the pressure because I know this ball has to get within 12 yards of the pin. So, I'm feeling a little bit more pressure, and this is the pressure that you may experience out on the course.
I think that one should be good. Yeah. Okay, I barely made it in on that one. But what it does, again, is create pressure that translates out onto the course. So, if you are going to the driving range all the time and your scores are not getting lower, you really need to simulate the pressure on the driving range to be able to take that pressure out onto the course and perform successfully.
I hope that pressure drill helps your golf game. Don't forget to follow along, subscribe, like, and comment below. We want to hear from you to see if these golf tips are helping you.
