Hey everyone, we are at Wild Wing Plantation. I’m with General Manager Mark Andrews, and Mark is getting ready to take me out on some of the best holes here at Wild Wing.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Any opportunity we get to play with you, Meredith, is awesome.
Yeah, we’re going to have a great time. So you guys follow along.
[Music]
We were talking about that—you know, riding up to this hole, one of the aspects about coming out to Wild Wing is so many of the holes you just don’t have homes. So you’re looking at it and you just see trees. There are no houses or anything. It’s beautiful. It’s gorgeous out here. Quiet. It’s a good, good place to be.
Yeah, it is.
All right, so show me how to play this hole.
Nice, Mark. That was awesome. You played it just right, just down the left. It’s going to kick a little bit to the right—should be okay. Yeah, you’re totally okay. That was great.
Oh, there you go. Oh, I’ll take that. Great ball. That’s a good start to the day. Definitely a great ball.
All right, so we’ve got a little water on the left, a little bunker on the right. So it kind of chokes in up the hole there, but your safe play is out to the right side.
Oh boy, she came to play today. Great shot—right off the right side. I’m going to stop giving advice if I’m going to get beat. Good shot. I’m low-key going after it.
I was going to say, that’s solid.
I kind of have a little pitch shot in there. That bunker is not playing.
Yeah, I know. I really don’t want to be in that bunker, but it’s better than, I guess, being in the water. That’s got a heck of a lip on it.
It does.
You’re right—looks like we’re playing together today. You’re up with my ball. I’m just short right of the bunker. But you know where we’re not?
Not in the water.
We’re not in the water.
Not the best contact, but you know what—I’ll take it. I’ll take it. I might just try to hit a lower shot and kind of run it.
All right. It is chunky. It is. That is a chunky monkey shot right there.
Yeah, that was gnarly.
Yeah, it was. Folks, do not do that. Do not do that. Do not copy this teaching moment right here—at least not in this moment. It was so promising.
Oh, we’re going to rake some sand on that.
Well, everything was good.
It was. And this is the addiction of golf, right? Good, good, good—because watch, you’re going to hit a good shot in there and then we’re just going to forget that even happened.
I don’t even know what you’re talking about because I’m already on to the next shot.
Exactly.
So there we go. Now it’s my turn to do it. That was a heck of a shank.
Yep, it was. I can do that as good as anybody.
[Music]
Oh, you did it too. You did it too. I’m actually kind of relishing this. I know—I said I felt like it was my time, and now look, we’re on a level playing field, right?
It is true—sometimes you speak it out.
You do. I talked that one into existence.
Here, I’ll put a little sand just—okay. Yeah. All right, let’s just cover it. This is how we cover our mistakes. Mine might be a little deeper than that one back there.
Okay. Fight. Come off the hill. Fight. Come off the hill. You know where we are.
Yeah.
All right.
There we go. Okay. That’s how you do it. All right. There you go. We’ve got a chance on that one. Oh man—downhill putts. Little downhill.
Oh man, I thought it was going to break a little bit. I’ll give you the rest of that one.
Thank you.
All right. Uphill—this is for par.
Oh man. Well, all right. So we really worked hard for a bogey.
We did. We probably worked harder than we should have.
Yeah, I know. This hole—look, all I’m saying is this hole is so much fun and so easy. You should not get a bogey. And do not watch how we just played—this is not how you’re supposed to play this hole. This is a “do the exact opposite of what we did.”
Okay, maybe we’ll find it on this par three.
This golf course will give you all you want. Depending on the tees you play it from, how far back you play, and where you hit the ball, it’ll give you problems.
It can. That’s the fun part. At the same time, it can also be really rewarding. That’s the greatest thing about it—it’s a really good balance of fun and challenge.
Look how good these tees look. I mean, who was out here striping these tees?
The overseed has come in. Wow. This year it is coming in beautifully.
Yes, the team out here does a great job. They knew we were coming, so they showed off a little bit.
That bunker is brutal. And what is that in the middle of the bunker? Is it like a ruin-your-day ledge or something?
It’s basically just a little grass strip to tease you—a shred of hope. But if it lands on it, you’re probably worse off than if you were just in the bunker.
All right, going a little—looks all right. You’re going to be okay. A little right, but playable.
I think that little ledge got in your head.
It did. The more I talk about stuff, I realize that’s kind of how it goes.
Hey everyone, I hope you’re having fun watching Mark and I play Wild Wing Plantation. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, comment below, and tell us what you love about Wild Wing Plantation. All right, now I’ve got to get back to the tee.
Okay.
Just a little right—but not in the bunker.
No, we’re not in the bunker. So we accomplished something.
I’m kind of wondering if we brought our A-game today. This feels like a C-plus game.
It’ll get better as it goes on, right?
I think this is the coolest bunker in Myrtle Beach.
Yeah, and then you’ve got another little one right there. They’re just so cool.
You said you’re going to putt this?
I am.
Yeah, I think I’m going to putt it too. Why not?
Oh, look at this—this could be good. Oh my goodness. It broke a little more than I thought.
Great putt.
[Music]
Get there. Oh, that’s nice too. You’re practically in my spot.
Are we in the same spot?
Do you want to finish it out?
Yeah, let’s be legit.
Never a doubt, right?
Look at us. Yes—look at us. Three. Our first one. We worked really hard for that one.
That’s a big hill. That’s Mount Nelson, named after Larry Nelson, the designer of the golf course. At one point, I believe it was the highest point in Horry County.
You know what we should do?
Walk to the top and get a picture.
Let’s do it.
This is really steep.
It is—a good workout.
Wow, look at this view.
You’ve got 16 fairway, 13 green, and 14—that’s what we’re playing.
If you really want to take in Wild Wing, this is the spot.
Man, these bunkers—they’re everywhere, but they’re strategically placed.
This could be one of the prettiest holes on the property.
You hit that solid.
Nice—down the left side. Risk-reward hole.
Get home. Oh, that was good.
Right on line. Great shot.
We could make some birdies right now.
That would be a great way to make up for that bogey earlier.
Bite, bite—great shot.
Oh, that looks good. Oh, go in. You almost holed it!
I almost holed it.
Pressure’s on now.
Oh my goodness. I barely touched that ball and it flew.
That was fun. That’s awesome.
This hole really embodies Wild Wing.
It’s like Baskin-Robbins—you’ve got all the flavors here in Myrtle Beach, and this is its own unique one.
