In this video, Salty and Meredith head out to Myrtle Beach National to play the front nine of the newly renovated King’s North golf course. The two team up for a fun Captain’s Choice challenge to see if they can break par on one of the most recognizable layouts in Myrtle Beach golf.
Salty shares that King’s North has been part of his life for years, having grown up playing the course with his grandfather and father. Returning after the renovation, he immediately notices the changes, including new bunkering and greens that have been restored closer to their original size.
One of the biggest updates to the course is the restoration of more than 30,000 square feet of putting surface, expanding the greens and improving the overall look and playability of the layout.
As they make their way through the front nine, Salty and Meredith navigate several risk-reward holes, including water carries and strategic approach shots. The newly restored greens may be larger, but they prove to be fast and challenging to read.
The round also features a visit to one of Myrtle Beach golf’s most famous holes — The Gambler at King’s North — where players can choose the safe route or take the aggressive line over the water.
Throughout the round, the pair talk about how the renovation has changed the course visually and strategically. While the expanded greens offer more landing areas, they also add new challenges when it comes to putting and positioning approach shots.
By the end of the front nine, Salty and Meredith manage to achieve their goal of breaking par, finishing several strokes under while enjoying the updated layout.
The newly renovated King’s North at Myrtle Beach National now features expanded greens, improved bunkering, and a layout that many golfers consider one of the most challenging and memorable courses in Myrtle Beach.
If you're planning a Myrtle Beach golf trip, King’s North should absolutely be on your list.
