I began my golf career down here at Myrtle Beach in 1999.
Oh, my love of the game just started for the business, the game itself, and everything about the age of 12 as a caddy up in New England.
I was serving as head golf professional at Wachesaw Plantation Club. I did take time to segue into the medical field and became an emergency room technician for Georgetown Memorial Hospital at the time while we were dealing with the progression of my father in his chronic progressive MS. And we made the family decision to try to take care of him as best we could, keep my parents together. We did that willfully and happily. And once that journey and part of our life was over, it was time to reenter and get back to what I truly love doing. I began my career, what was then known as Seagull Golf Course. I then became the head professional at Burning Ridge Golf Club out on 501 back when it was 36 holes, many a moon ago. Upon my re-entry into FTI, I was offered the wonderful opportunity by Krista Bowden Snyder to enter back in at River Club. And from there, I went to Indian Wells and ultimately Grand Dunes.
And now we're blessed with the opportunity to be here at River Hills. One day, while hosting the World Am a few years ago, one of our participants did suffer basically a heart attack if you will, though he claims not to be a heart attack. He was without pulse when I got on the scene, but certainly did not feel good about the situation when the paramedics took over, but we stepped into action. We did what we could while we could. And amazingly that night we got word that while in the ICU, he had survived and was planning and going to make a full recovery per the doctors.
The people, the staff they've been amazing. It's been an amazing reception. I just wake up each morning with a new drive of what we're going to take care of today. And just the potential here is just so overwhelming. There's so much to offer, so much we're going to get into.
