Hey everyone! We are at Myrtlewood Golf Club, a hidden gem in Myrtle Beach. Actually, it's one of the most popular golf courses in Myrtle Beach, especially with the locals. We're on PineHills getting ready to play, and of course, I'm with the Salty Golfer. Salty, are you ready to go out and have some fun?
Yeah! We're on the back nine here at PineHills. Low-key, it's one of my favorite nines on the Grand Strand.
Why do you like it?
I just think it's fun. It's a fun golf course for any handicap. You can come out here and have a good time with your friends. It's a great way to bookend a trip—either start it here or finish it here.
Exactly. Let's do it.
She's got enough sunscreen on for both of us. I'm wiping some off.
Hey, I've got to keep my legs looking youthful.
It's those sexy calves. Look at Salty's calves. This is why he hits the ball so well. Look at those things!
All right, that's a good start. We're going to go five under today on the back.
Oh, is that what we're going to do?
That's the goal. Five under.
We can do it.
We've got this. You've got the calves, and that's all we need.
That'll work. I lost my balance a little bit, but that'll work. We're both in the fairway on the first hole. That's a good place to be. Look at that green. It's tight up there.
What did you get?
142.
That's going to be good. Right in the middle of the green.
Oh, a little deep. That's all right. We've got one on there. Now you can go flag hunting.
Oh, I didn't turn it over.
That would've been so good if I had.
That's all right. Two-putt for par.
No, let's make one long one. Just bomb it in.
I had a great shot there; I just didn't turn it over. Got a long putt here. I think it's a little left-to-right at the beginning, then maybe straightens out near the hole.
I like it. Left to right.
Oh, you played that well, Salty.
Go!
Sit. Sit. Bite.
I got a little aggressive.
I hit that one too hard.
Good par. Nice teamwork. That was just the warmup. Now we've got to find a birdie.
Thomas, we've got to make some birdies. Par-three next.
As a team, par-threes have not been our friend.
No.
If we go back and look at the tape... let's not. Par-threes have not been great to us in scramble format.
Where are your new irons?
They're here. They're just raw, so they rust.
Rusties!
Some people say you get extra spin from the rust. I don't know if that's true.
Those calves. I can't keep my eyes off them now.
You can't unsee them.
That looks good.
We're on the dance floor.
This is a really pretty hole. The scenery, the tall grass blowing in the wind—it's beautiful.
A little too much.
Sit. Sit. Sit.
Ah.
Time to make a birdie.
I didn't hit it.
Good pace, though.
Not bad.
Knock it in.
There we go.
All right, we made par on a par-three, which is a win for us. Par-threes haven't treated us very well. But bring on the par-fives, baby.
We're at hole 12, our third hole of the day. This is a tough little dogleg left.
That could be really good... or we might not find it.
I love how you went over the trees.
It's all in the calves, Meredith.
I try to get calves at the gym, but I can't.
I try to get rid of my belly and can't.
Probably too much Salty Golfer Pineapple Blonde.
Yes! You love it.
That felt good.
Perfect. Right down the left side.
Let's get a natural eagle here. Just chip it in.
One big hop.
I was trying to hit more of a bump-and-run there.
That's okay.
That's got to go left.
We could've done better.
That was bull crud.
Sugar.
This is an ugly break, and it's going to move fast.
Pretty heavy break.
Good putt.
You had the line.
Maybe we're just too relaxed when we play together.
Maybe we need some pressure.
I think a little pressure might be good for us.
Hole 13. Short par-five. 485 yards. If you're playing from the white tees, there's a little chute through the trees where you can cut the corner and potentially get home in two. Let's see what we've got.
I drew it instead of fading it.
But we're in the fairway.
Perfect.
I thought I was about to have a Marilyn Monroe moment with this wind.
We need a birdie.
Actually, if we're trying to get to five under, we need a birdie on every hole now.
Should I hit my 5-wood?
Go for it.
Kick right.
Nope, kicked left.
Still okay.
Nature helps sometimes.
It does.
That's not enough.
Keep going.
Not bad.
I just wish I'd given it a little more.
All right. Let's get this birdie.
That's middle of the clubface.
As the kids would say.
Tap this in for our first birdie of the day.
Birdie!
Hallelujah!
One under.
We can still do it.
Woo! Nice, Salty.
That was smoked.
Those calves.
I asked Salty if he wanted to try CrossFit.
He said no.
If this video gets 1,000 likes, I'll do a CrossFit class.
But you guys have to film it.
I love your ball flight today.
I don't remember you hitting it that high.
I'm swinging slower now.
I think it's helping my trajectory.
Another beautiful hole.
One thing I like about this course is that it doesn't feel like there's a wasted hole.
Those rusty clubs. Too much spin.
The old rusties.
Oh!
Pulled it.
Looks like we're taking yours.
Come on.
Come on.
Oh man!
So close.
We're better than this.
We've had bad breaks, bad bounces, gale-force winds, sunscreen issues...
A lot has been thrown at us today.
But the calves are strong.
If I do a burpee, the whole ground will shake and mess up the camera.
Keep watching. Like, subscribe, and share. Remember, if we get 1,000 likes, Salty is doing a CrossFit class.
Need a birdie.
Or better.
Good ball.
We're in a great spot.
That's perfect.
Good ball.
Two-putt for birdie.
Let's do it.
Nice chip, Salty.
Thank you.
Great putt.
Birdie!
Two under with three to play.
Hole 16. This hole was redone a few years ago. They added a bunker and expanded the green.
Classic bump-and-run shot here.
We're both up there.
Let's see who's closer.
We're going to roll this in and grab another birdie.
You've been making all the putts.
That one didn't break.
We've got to persevere.
One of us is getting a hole-in-one.
I'm feeling it.
Hole-in-one energy.
The ace cam is on.
What happened to the hole-in-one?
I was trying to manifest it.
That putt was beautiful.
You just left it short.
You can't leave birdie putts short.
Final hole.
A lot of bunkers on the right.
Just aim center.
Good shot.
Probably about 100 yards.
Distance was good.
I just pushed it a little.
Nice shot, Salty.
We're trying to make this birdie and finish at three under.
Honestly, we didn't play terrible golf today. The problem was the chipping.
This is real golf.
Not every day is perfect.
We're going to make par, finish two under through nine holes, and accept it.
You absolutely need to play PineHills. And the great thing is you can also play the Palmetto Course here at Myrtlewood because it's a 36-hole facility. A couple of holes run along the Intracoastal Waterway. Beautiful golf course.
Five under was the goal. We didn't get it done today. Two under through nine holes. Seven pars and two birdies. Some really great shots and a few good putts.
