Golf course rankings are nothing new, but GolfPass takes a different approach — it lets everyday golfers decide. Using thousands of user reviews, the Golf Channel–owned platform releases annual “Golfers’ Choice” rankings for public courses in each state, focusing on playability, value, enjoyment, and service rather than pedigree alone.
When South Carolina’s results were tallied, Myrtle Beach courses made a strong statement. Six Grand Strand layouts earned spots among the state’s top public courses, led by No. 1 Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and No. 3 Grande Dunes Resort Course. The rankings were based on more than 6,000 golfer reviews submitted on GolfPass.
Joining Caledonia and Grande Dunes on the list were Shaftesbury Glen, Pawleys Plantation, Willbrook (top photo), Man O’War, and River Club — a mix of nationally acclaimed designs and beloved local favorites. From Mike Strantz’s Lowcountry masterpiece at Caledonia to Grande Dunes’ Intracoastal Waterway holes and Pawleys Plantation’s iconic marsh-lined back nine, the courses reflect the depth and variety Myrtle Beach offers traveling golfers.
GolfPass describes its rankings as a reflection of what golfers truly value, highlighting both well-known destinations and hidden gems that consistently deliver memorable experiences. For anyone planning a South Carolina golf trip, the message from golfers themselves is clear: Myrtle Beach remains one of the premier public golf destinations in the country.
