Myrtle Beach’s Fall Entertainment Options

We’ve told you about Coastal Carolina University football.

We’ve sang the praises of mid-afternoon trips to the beach in October.

We’ve even let you know about 5Ks and hiking.

This time, we’re going to stretch the imagination and let you know where you should be heading in conjunction with your fall rounds during your Grand Strand golf trek. This list is different, and – in some ways – not for the faint of heart.

Hit up this chronological list and thank us later.

CONWAY BURGER WEEK
While the restaurants who will participate this year haven’t been announced, the dates have. Between Sept. 18-Sept. 24, 10 downtown Conway eateries will put their best beef (and other ingredients) forward to attract the big appetites among us to chow down. The restaurants float between lunch and dinner and weekday and weekend selections. And, yes, there are even non-cow options available.

BEACH ’N CHILI FEST
Just a few days after the equinox (Sept. 29-Oct. 1), the Beach ’n Chili Fest takes over Myrtle Beach’s Ocean Boulevard with a three-day, low-key combination of competition, chili and brews. The event initially launched post-pandemic and is already looking like it’s going to top participation by some 50-70 percent of last fall’s figures. The popularity makes sense, given the ease of access and abundance of food and drink options. (Top photo and yes that’s Kevin from “The Office” pictured right)

TASTE OF THE TOWN
While it scaled back some in the past few years, Taste of the Town is back to dominating the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for one night and one night only. This time around, the massive food fest will take place on October 10, with vendors from the best restaurants on the Grand Strand serving up micro-portions of their signature dishes for a fraction of the cost. There’s no locals-only rule here. Just great food and a beer garden, to boot.

COASTAL CAR WASH HAUNTED TUNNEL
If you’ve brought your own wheels, rented one at the airport or just want to make some Uber driver’s night, head to Coastal Car Wash (9123 Ocean Highway) any of the last three weekends in October for their annual haunted car wash. Complete with some of the standard spooky Halloween regulars, the characters turn up the dial to make this a car wash unlike any other. It’s not crazy expensive, and you get a service with the frights. (Pictured right)

MYRTLE BEACH INVITATIONAL
College hoops fans, rejoice. The Myrtle Beach Invitational will take place November 16-17 and 19 at Coastal Carolina’s HTC Center in Conway. The 2023 teams in the ESPN-orchestrated event include: Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Furman, Liberty, Saint Louis, Vermont, Wichita State and Wyoming. The chances you’ll see a few of those squads during March Madness are high.
