People often seek out local opinion when traveling, which makes the latest honor for the Resort Course at Grande Dunes all the more satisfying.
Grande Dunes was voted Best Golf Course in Myrtle Beach by viewers of WMBF, Myrtle Beach’s local NBC affiliate, highlighting the layout’s popularity among locals and traveling golfers alike.
The Roger Rulewich design, long regarded as one of the area’s best, went to another level following a 2022 greens and bunker renovation project. Nearly 40,000 square feet of putting surface were reclaimed, restoring the greens to their original size and contours.
Bunkers were also fully rebuilt, and eight acres of fairway were added, making some of Myrtle Beach’s most generous landing areas even more forgiving. The clubhouse was also completely renovated, including the addition of Terrazza 19, a new restaurant.
Combine the renovation work with a layout that features five holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway, and it’s easy to understand Grande Dunes’ popularity. The holes along the waterway, particularly the par-3 14th, are among Myrtle Beach’s most dramatic.
While those stunning views are what golfers talk about on the ride home, what makes Grande Dunes special is the quality of the layout from the first tee through the 18th green. The fairways are among the area’s widest, but players that want to go low will be rewarded for playing to the proper spot, setting up an advantageous approach.
Grande Dunes’ greens are among the largest and most creative along the Myrtle Beach golf scene, allowing for a variety of pin positions that can impact how each hole plays.
With scenic beauty, thoughtful design, and local approval, it’s no wonder Grande Dunes earned the title of Myrtle Beach’s Best Golf Course.
