The Avocet Course at Wild Wing offers one of Myrtle Beach’s most distinctive golf experiences. Designed by Jeff Brauer and Larry Nelson, it features imaginative hole layouts and a variety of risk-reward opportunities. Our aerial footage showcases each hole from above, giving players a clear look at fairway contours, green complexes, and the course’s natural movement across the property.
Here’s a full aerial hole-by-hole tour we captured on October 10, 2025. (All yardages are from the most commonly played white tees, which carry a course rating of 70.1 and a slope of 126.)
No. 1, 352 yards, par 4 (top photo)
A right-side fairway bunker tightens the landing area from the tee. Find the fairway, and a solid start with par should follow

No. 2, 348 yards, par 4
A straightaway hole with plenty of room off the tee. Take advantage and post a good number here — the toughest stretch of the round is coming

No. 3, 399-yard, par 4
A tough test featuring wetlands bisecting the fairway just short of the green and three well-placed bunkers. Take the smart route — par or bogey is a good outcome

No. 4, 501 yards, par 5
A tight landing area and hazards throughout make this a genuine three-shot hole. The wetlands and a deep greenside bunker ensure every shot matters.

No. 5, 145 yards, par 3
A shorter par three offers a brief break in the action. Water left and sand right add some pressure, but with a short iron approach, there’s no excuse to miss the green

No. 6, 406 yards, par 4
Water left and woods right make this a demanding driving hole. Hitting the right tier on the double green is essential to avoid a tough two-putt.

No. 7, 523 yards, par 5
This long, straight par five demands steady play from tee to green. Avoid the sizable bunker guarding the left side of the green.

No. 8, 145 yards, par 3
Water and a set of deep swales protect the left side, making recovery difficult. The green is expansive, but you’ll want to carry your approach all the way.

No. 9, 323 yards, par 4
The green can’t be reached in one, but big hitters will still take on this dual-fairway hole. The left side offers the best angle — if you can find it.

No. 10, 398 yards, par 4
A long par four starts the inward nine, putting a premium on accuracy off the tee. Stay clear of the right-side bunkers to keep your approach within reach.

No. 11, 454 yards, par 5
Big hitters may go for the green in two on Avocet’s shortest par five, but water left guards the peanut-shaped green and punishes any miss

No. 12, 186 yards, par 3
The first of two demanding par threes on the back nine. A massive bunker guards the middle-right portion of the undulating green, so favor the left side where there’s room to bail out

No. 13, 344 yards, par 4
This is the first of two short par fours in a row. Driver is an option, but accuracy off the tee takes priority to leave a simple wedge approach

No. 14, 265 yards, par 4
There’s a difference between a short par four and a drivable one — and this hole is the latter. Big hitters can take aim at the green, but it’s a risk-reward shot all the way

No. 15, 461 yards, par 5
A reachable par five, but caution is the smarter play. Position your layup on the upper fairway to set up a safer approach to a green guarded by water and bunkers.

No. 16, 430 yards, par 4
The scoring stretch closes with the back nine’s toughest hole. There’s no trick to it — even a well-struck drive leaves a demanding approach. Focus on keeping a big number off the card.

No. 17, 165 yards, par 3
To take dead aim at the flag, you’ll need to carry the wetlands that stretch almost to the green’s edge. There’s plenty of safe ground to the right — the choice is yours.

No. 18, 381 yards, par 4
Pull driver one more time on this gentle dogleg left. Water and sand protect the main landing area, so accuracy matters. Finish with a par here, and you’ve earned it.
