Allen Terrell Named One of “GOLF’S Top 100 Teachers in America”

Allen Terrell, the director of coaching at the Dustin Johnson Golf School at TPC Myrtle Beach, has been named one of “GOLF’S Top 100 Teachers in America,” capping an unforgettable 12 months for the acclaimed instructor.

In November of 2020, Dustin Johnson, who Terrell has worked with for 16 years, won the Masters, topping a dominant stretch of golf that included winning the FedEx Cup, and shortly afterwards, Terrell was named 2020 Carolinas PGA Teacher of the Year.

Since its inception in 1991, GOLF’s Top 100 Teachers in America franchise has established itself as the industry standard for recognizing excellence in coaching, and Terrell was one of just 12 new teachers to earn a spot on the prestigious list this year.

The recognition from GOLF is further validation of the work Terrell is doing at the Dustin Johnson Golf School.

In addition to his work with DJ, Terrell has helped numerous professionals, amateurs and juniors develop their game. The state-of-the-art Dustin Johnson Golf School includes multiple hitting bays, a workout room, Trackman and the immaculate practice facilities at TPC Myrtle Beach.

Terrell has also created one of the fastest growing junior programs in the Southeast, introducing new kids to the game while helping other young players further enhance their skills.

In just five years, the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship, held annually at TPC Myrtle Beach, has emerged as one of the nation’s premier junior tournaments and Terrell has been a vital part of the event’s growth.

GOLF’s biennial list is selected by the Top 100 Teachers Credentials Committee and is the only national golf instructor search that combines outside academic and PGA peer review.

Candidates for GOLF’s Top 100 Teachers list were screened against a set of criteria evaluating their teaching experience and accomplishments, student portfolio and peer ratings, along with their overall commitment to the growth of the game, both through volunteerism and their ability to use digital platforms.
