Aerial Perspective: Big Changes to Pawleys Plantation’s 8th Hole

Get a first look at the changes to Pawleys Plantation’s par four 8th hole, which includes a larger fairway and an expanded green.

Troy Vincent ASGCA, Nicklaus Design:
I think eight has turned out real well. I know you guys have had an opportunity to go out and look at it. There was a big formal bunker beyond the second landing area along the water’s edge.

Number one, we filled in the bunker. The bunker is gone. What you’re going to see is now that’s all fairway where the waste area is. A formal bunker, it’s gone. That was along the fairway. That will be fairway cut down. You have good visibility. You see the water, you see into the green.

And on that green now we have two separate bunkers on the front of the green that are basically guarding the pin on that green. And I’m happy with the way that green came out. There’s good movement on these greens more than what you think. But that one had some really some highlights that we were able to pop out and we were able to gain pin positions that were lost due to the shrinkage of the green. So that hole, I’m really excited about. I think it’s turned out very well.
