Do you want to know the one secret to have a power drive? I'm Meredith Kirk, LPGA Class A teaching professional. Let's get on with it. So, the secret to a power drive is really how you set up to the ball. But first of all, let me show you what I often see with my students who struggle with getting distance. When they set up with their driver, I often see that their feet are maybe shoulder width apart. Maybe their feet are a little bit inside the shoulders. That is not how you're going to get power. You have to remember in golf when you're swinging the club, the power comes ground up. It's a ground force reaction. So you're swinging around your body biomechanically. Your feet are stabilized to the ground. So the ground then becomes kind of like a springboard. So when you take the club to the top, you can press down. You can squat a little bit into the ground as you're coming through impact. And that's really going to help you generate power. But most importantly, getting back to the setup, you want to make sure that your feet are nice and wide. Don't be afraid to get a little bit uncomfortable because I have students that tell me, "This feels weird. I'm not used to spreading my legs this far out and getting my backside out. It feels a little weird." But I promise you, and once you set up, it might feel a little weird, but once you start swinging, you're going to get more rotation. You're really going to activate the lower body. You're you're going to activate your glutes, which is where you're going to generate a lot of your power and your quads. So the wider your feet go, okay? You don't want to get too wide. We're not long drivers competing here, okay? But we do want the feet outside the shoulders, but as you get wide, the lower body is like, "Yes, I can create power now." So the lower body is getting happy now. So when you get wide, lower body is like, "Give it to me. I want to create power for you with your drive." So that is the secret. So here, here I go. I'm going to set up. I'm going to hit one for you. Take a look at my stance. You know, I'm not afraid to get wide. So, as I get wide, look what naturally happens in my stance. My trail shoulder is is actually dropping down a little bit, which is what you want. You want a nice ascending blow to the ball because this is the longest club in your bag. So, that right shoulders drop down. I'm going to be able to hit the driver on the upswing, wide stance, activating the lower body. I'm telling you, this is the secret right here. Just like that. That felt really good. I got a lot of power, a lot of distance. So, there you go. There is the secret to how to create a power drive. I hope you like the secret on how to create a power drive.
