Amateur Hour with Hannah Cook, the latest video series launched by Barstool’s burgeoning golf media empire, recently paid a visit to Myrtle Beach. The YouTube show is built around Cook, a relative newcomer to the game, and her quest to play better golf.
Her journey to the Grand Strand, the game’s most popular destination, brought her to TPC Myrtle Beach for the opportunity to play with Dustin Johnson, a two-time major champion. The appearance coincided with DJ being in town for his namesake event – the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship.
The former World No. 1 played holes 16, 17 and 18 at TPC Myrtle Beach with Cook, showcasing the layout’s dramatic finish. Cook and DJ both got off to a strong start before things started to get dicey on the par 3 17th hole, which features a peninsula green.
DJ offers alignment and course management tips that help Hannah manage her game and make a dramatic up-and-down along the way. The 22-minute video provides a glimpse of the challenges at TPC, a layout Johnson has played countless times over the years, and showcases the fun of its unforgettable closing stretch.
The video attracted 67,000 viewers in the first 48 hours as fans relish the opportunity to watch Johnson and Cook play a course they have the ability to tee it up on.
Amateur Hour, which launched in August of 2022, already has more than 8.5 million video views and DJ joins the likes of basketball legend Steph Curry, country music star Jake Owen and Golf Channel’s Alexandra O’Laughlin as guests on the show.
Cook’s appearance in Myrtle Beach won’t be her last this year. She has committed to improving her game and competing in the 40th annual World Amateur Handicap Championship, a 72-hole net stroke play event, that will be played August 28 through September 1 on 55 of the Myrtle Beach area’s premier golf courses.
