Designed by Gene Hamm, Burning Ridge opened in 1980 and received an extensive renovation in 2005 – catapulting it to earning “Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year” accolades by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association based on the quality of the golf course, management and contributions to the Myrtle Beach community and the game of golf at large.
Measuring 6,780 yards from the longest of its four sets of tees, Burning Ridge is a par-72 course, with the standard 10 par fours, four par fives and four par threes. Those four par threes offer particular challenge—they all measure more than185 yards, with the 247-yard 12th leading the pack.
Burning Ridge is known for the widely varying size and shape of its greens - from long and skinny greens that reward straight ball flight as well as shallow, wide ones that place a premium on distance control. The green on the 529-yard, par-five 18th tests the former criteria: the right side is fairly deep, but the left runs only about eight yards from front to back, guarded by a bunker in front. Be sure to hit your highest, softest-landing wedge shot to keep it on the putting surface. Burning Ridge also boasts a full-service pro shop as well as an impressive practice facility with a grass driving range, putting green and chipping green with a practice bunker.
The course was in very good shape. It was fully booked, so pace of play was a little slow, but it was expected.
Great value for the price. Course was in good shape and a fun layout to play
Nice course, will play again...well maintained and operated.
Great day. 1 problem. They book both tees until 10 am, so when you make the turn you have to wait. Our round slowed down considerably at the turn.
The golf course was fun the staff inside were extremely friendly. But are you ready the very best thing was their Grilled Chicken Sandwich!! It was absolutely delicious the best grilled chicken sandwich I ever had I’ve tried and tried to duplicate it at home I can’t do it I called the golf course up talk to the kitchen they told me how they make it my son and I three years later still talking about that same sandwich!
greens were in good shape for the time of year
Great service by starters.
Nice layout. Good challenge for average player.
Very tight fairways and small greens. Some of the bunker placement is just “mean” to an average golfer. Beautiful setting and course in great shape.
Starter was very attentive and course was in great shape
Well kept. Fairways and greens in good shape. Good people from bag drop to lunch counter. Look forward to playing again next year.
Fair yet challenging course. Course is in excellent condition for Thanksgiving weekend. Starter was helpful on tips. Tee boxes level and flush-no bare spots. Previous players had used sand from cart to fill fairway divots. Greens were soft yet true to roll. Not crowded. 4 hour round. Must play gents and ladies!
There is no sand in the bunkers
Very busy front nine Much better back nine Many senior golfers playing just front none
overall a very enjoyable round in all aspects - we would definitely play this course again as we felt comfortable with the layout (i.e. not too difficult / not too much water)
Beautiful course, challenging, but not overly so!
The course was in great shape. The greens were the best of the weekend. The staff were terrific and very nice. I recommend this course to everyone.
Great value. Can’t beat it for the price. A very enjoyable round of golf.
Conditions great. greens beautiful. must play. real pleasant surprise
Course is in very good shape and greens are challenging. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Course is in good shape. The greens are fast and true. Nice staff, definite must play.
Course was in great shape. Enjoyed the layout
Fair but Challenging course. Tee boxes & Fairways are in very good shape. Some of the best Greens in Myrtle Beach right now. Course was extremely busy but pace of play was 4 hours as a foursome. Nice Staff.
Early in season , fairways and greens had a good set and condition . course is very fair for the golfer that plays in the fairway and even a little in the rough areas. Price well worth the experience .
Fair & Balance (local) The course is in excellent shape and we played 18 in a little over 4 hours as a twosome with a ladies group in front of us. This is certainly a shotmaker course, so even if the Gene Ham designs reflects over 6200 yard from the whites you can ease up on the driver. Place it and you will be rewarded! The greens are superb...kudos to the groundkeeper. JD
Loved the layout
This was our first time at Burning Ridge. The Staff was very professional and courteous, and the Course was in great shape. The Greens were fairly fast with subtle breaks, and playing from the gold/red Tees made the holes enjoyable. I would definitely play the Course again.
Had a great time . Play time was a little slow , but not bad. Greens were a little faster than other courses in area. Nice layout, risk/reward was at a playable level. Clubhouse was very nice. Only complaint was some sand hazards around greens needed more sand or deep raking.
The golf course is in great shape. The greens are the best I've seen there in years. Fairways in good shape. The only negative were the traps were a little rough. The staff from pro shop to starter were great. Will definitely be back this winter.
Nothing really exciting about this course. The fairways are a little thin and some bald spots on a few greens. Not one of the better courses in MB.
Course was in great shape. Club house staff was friendly and helpful. Are tee time was 1:11 pm but we did not get off until 1:40 pm. We had to rush to get our round in before dark.
Grill attendant was the only team member who does not seem to enjoy her job. Second time it's been noticed, unfortunately.
Nice Old Style Course. Everything right out in front of you. Enough Sand & Water to keep you honest. Course is in good shape. Greens putted true. Very nice staff. Would recommend this course.
It was the best course I played all week.
Excellent course. Water and bunkers are in play. Fairway grass a little thin. Greens nice. Definitely play again
The whole experience was well worth the price paid. Affordable, yet a good dollar value.
Greens were in excellent condition and grounds and employees were excellent.
That we were cart path only but I could see why. The course was very wet.
Tees were excellent. A couple of greens were a little rough but all greens rolled true. A few fairways had bare spots. A nice course. I will play again.
Great course. Fair test of our golf game.
Played in a tournament. Staff did a magnificent job with the tourney. Course is a little rough. Lot's of thin areas in the fairways & some tee boxes. several greens were suspect but overall not horrible.
Love the layout.
Tee time not respected and bad communication with starter
Bob the starter was excellent. Came out on course to check on us several times because we were behind a slow group.
Course was in great shape from tees to greens, hard but fair course. Lots of doglegs, water, sand, greens were extremely fast. Used 3 medal off of most par 4 tees. Pace of play was as good as any on a Sunday. Will definitely be back.
The greens were excellent which made the experience good, though the layout makes many holes look alike. We were treated very well with great hospitality.
I played in 2013 and it was poor then. It was better this time but it isn't a course I'll return to with so many superior, equally priced options available. The staff is just doing their job, the layout isn't particularly unique. I only came back because I was rained out after 10 holes in 2013, and I should have just let the sleeping dog lie.
