Diamond Back Golf Course at Woodland Valley is nestled peacefully in the Lowcountry woodlands neighboring North Myrtle Beach. This Russell Breeden design features modern and sophisticated golf elements, playing to a par 72 that stretches to more than 6,900 yards from the tips, but offering tee options that also make this a distance-friendly course for all golfers.
Strategically placed bunkers and lakes present both challenge and fun shot-making opportunities for golfers of all abilities. Further, Woodland Valley is the first course in the Myrtle Beach area to feature Jensen Ultra Dwarf greens, and also offers a fully stocked pro shop, snack bar and practice facility.
A signature hole at Woodland Valley is No. 16, featuring a Lowcountry marsh stretching from left to right that makes the middle of the fairway a water hazard. Club selection is important during your round here, punctuated by multiple holes similar to #16 with forced carries. Fear not, though, as these carries are relatively short. Hole #12, a par 3 measuring 125 yards, has an easy carry that makes it a popular hole among golfers to make that easy par.
We loved the course, Patrick and staff were just like Family. They continue to make improvements and it will soon be a championship course. Look forward to going back...

Worth the drive as course is in great condition. Value for dollar is exceptional. Course in great condition and front nine especially is nature at it's best. Even saw a couple deer. Staff is friendly and treat you like a guest.

Diamondback has improved in the last 2 years! The course conditions are great with new greens last year, lots of hole improvements, tree removal and many more player improvements. The staff makes you feel at home, the snack bar is well stocked and a liquor license has been added. Make your next golf round at the all new Diamondback, you'll be glad you did. The price is right too.

Overall course is in decent shape. Greens are fine. Front nine has some construction projects going on that brought down conditions, Back nine was in much better shape. I expect the course the course to be in much better shape in several weeks. Pace of play was good. Very challenging layout.

Good course setup, greens were horrible, like putting on painted clay, any grass growing on putting surface were in clumps and caused ball to veer abnormally. Unbelievable that they actually charge to play as much as they do. Of all the courses in the area, I wish I had known. Definitely do not recommend.

Course was in excellent shape but the edges of some of the cups were raggered and not cut cleanly. Many of the water stations did not have water jugs and the ones that did had warm water that probably was sitting there for a few days. Our carts had a ice bucket in the cart, but one had nothing in it and the other had water, no ice. I found the course long and narrow and many holes had tight/blind tee shots and hidden water hazards.

We played on 6/14/13, and it was a great day on a great course. Staff is friendly and helpful. Course is beautiful with a nice mix of challenges. It was a little wet, but there had been a lot of recent rain storms. Great gas-powered carts. Good, cheap food and beer at the restaurant. It is about a 40 minute drive from the heart of Myrtle Beach, but many of the good courses are 30+ minutes from MB, so that was not an issue. It was slow the day we were there, which I find very rare and very refreshing. Overall, highly recommended.

Fairways very thin. But it's COLD yet. Haven't grown in yet, I guess. A great getaway course for anyone heading North after the round. Pro Shop had nothing to offer, between seasons ,I guess. Staff very friendly. Was nice touch to get a sandwich, chips and two drinks at end of round. Course layout is nice blend of Risk & Reward. White tees plenty for us Seniors. Fun day after it warmed up.

This has always been a course I play every winter because of it's condition and scenery but what a disappointment this winter. This is the first winter I have ever seen it not winter seeded and that includes the greens. Don't know what is going on but the pro shop is just a fraction of what it was in the past. Usually in March the place is packed but the word must be getting around concerning it's shape. My advice, avoid it this winter, wait until the middle of April and check it out before playing. One nice thing I can still say about the course is the staff are still very nice.

Great layout; poorly maintained; maintenance needs additional capital to improve playability. Poor drainage issues and compacted turf is the major issues. Club bounces from lack of turf and hard pan soil. Never again for the cost.

Course is in dormant shape but is still very playable. greens are fast and true. There were some muddy areas but overall quite a challenge to play and women friendly. Will play it again.

There's trouble left, trouble right, & many times trouble straight ahead. Lots of dense woodlands, sand, & water. A nice change of pace from the resort courses because only 1 home is viewable from the course. Course conditions were a little wet but otherwise very good. Our group enjoyed playing here.

My group visited Diamondback at Woodland Valley 6/7/12 and we has the time of our lives! GM/Head Golf Professional, Brad Davis, showed us around the plush fairways and greens. Brad has done a spectacular job with this course! It has a ton of character to go along with the great layout and the best staff in the Myrtle Beach area! This course is a mainstay now in our annual golf trip. I'm definitely looking forward to playing this course again next year.

Conditions are very bad. I would rather play in a cow's field. The fairways are non existent, very dry and completely yellow. Maintenance is very bad at this golf club. They probably haven't maintained anything since last March 2011, when the course was beautiful.

Played 1-12-12. The only grass that was green was the tee boxes. The greens were brown but fast. Staff was nice, lunch and 2 beers plus cheap greens fee was all worth it.

This is a good course for the money although a long drive from Myrtle Beach (2 hours both ways). The layout is its best feature - each hole is new and different. Quality of the course itself is below the medium-priced courses in Myrtle Beach. The starter/bag man was downright surly and not much interested in communicating. As first-time players we did not get a lot of help. They advertised lunch and beer as part of the package but lunch was a hot dog sausage on a bun and a very small bag of chips. The beer was an 8 ounce glass. I wouldn't go here from Myrtle Beach but would play this course again. I just hope they have a different starter next time.

Played the course on 4/28. Good conditions and great value. I got the package that include breakfast, lunch, two beers, greens fees, and range balls. Nice people in pro shop. Good overall condition for a warm up course. The course is the farthest out on Highway 9 so play it coming or going. Typical Russel Breeden golf course. Many fun holes with a couple weird ones tossed in. Conditions overall good but greens seemed a little grainy. Several tight fairways surrounded by thick woods.
