NBA Stars & Heavyweight Champ Weigh In on Myrtle Beach Golf

The celebrities who took time out recently to share their thoughts on what they love most about Myrtle Beach golf include:

Al Wood, who played basketball for Dean Smith at the University of North Carolina and went on to a 6-year NBA career after being drafted fourth overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1981 NBA Draft.

Brevin Knight, a basketball star at Stanford University who went on to enjoy a 13-year NBA career. He is currently a color commentator for the Memphis Grizzlies on Fox Sports Tennessee.

Ann Liguori, a nationally renowned sports radio personality and talk show host and longtime golf correspondent. Ann was the first woman to host a sports call-in show on WFAN in New York – the station that vaulted sports talk radio into national significance – and 20-plus years later remains the station’s golf and tennis correspondent as part of CBS Sports Radio Network.

James “Bonecrusher” Smith, the former WBA heavyweight boxing champion who earned the title with a first-round knockout of Tim Witherspoon in 1986. He became the first-ever college graduate to win the heavyweight title, and was inducted into the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame in 2007.

Wood, Knight, Liguori and Smith each participated recently in the Know Your Score Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Resort Club at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, to raise funds and awareness to benefit Zero: The End of Prostate Cancer.
