Eagle Nest Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach is not just known for its challenging length and gleaming lakes, but for the pristine wildlife that inhabits the course, including an eagle that is known to nest in one of the many Carolina pines. This course has been on the Myrtle Beach map for decades and many golfers migrate to play here, year after year. The course was renovated in 2001 from tee to green and features Bermuda fairways and greens with gentle contours and generous playing areas. Although this course has been named “a gentle giant,” you will find it an easy challenge to conquer, even with the length swinging at 7,000 yards!
Your round will no doubt be pleasurable, but Eagle Nest is also renowned for creating memories with the “Grand Strand’s Toughest” final three holes. The sequence of the three final holes include: par 4, par 5 and finishing hole par 3, each which contain plenty of water and present a tricky challenge. Be prepared to carry water on these holes. The biggest carry will be on the par 3 #18, at 150 yards from the back tees. Having the most challenging holes positioned on the last three is the reason why this course has been one of the most popular courses in the North Myrtle beach area for more than 40 years and counting.
Great layout. Fun course. We were a 4some with two women. Good course for them...not many forced carries.
Course was in very good condition. A good challenge and the conditions made it fun.
People friendly will be back
Not much to say. An average place to play if you're looking for a filler course to play when not playing any of the good course. Nothing great to say about it, but nothing too bad to say about it either. The yardages seem to be a bit off though, and it's more of a target golf course so if you don't know where to hit it, you'll be in trouble.
Course is nice but greens are a bit rough and fairways can be dried out and hard giving long runs that can get you in trouble with water if you know what you normally hit. Best to take one club less if any chance of reaching water. At times I would get some 25 yards more than my normal tee shots. Tees are rough but playable. Greens putted pretty true and only had some problems when ball was hit soft and taking a few unexpected turns at times as though there were some unnoticeable depressions. Best to hit it firm when near the hole. Last three holes can be a bear but are still fun. Traps are well placed around greens and in good shape and still present decent openings to green if you don't want to go over them.
Greens are not in the best of shape.
Greens had recently been topped. I did not notice that information listed like the other courses, when I booked the tee time. They did not putt very true or consistently.
Greens were in rough shape.
Greens were in very poor condition.
The back nine was as advertised.
Very good condition, very friendly staff.
Club head cleaners on carts and coolers for drinks.
Eagle's Nest has maybe the fastest greens on the Grand Strand. The roll fast and true. The mini-verde grass that is now on the greens really putts well. The nest is an older course that has upgraded itself. The last 3 holes are as good as any finish on the Strand. If you have not played Eagles Nest recently, it is well worth a visit. Great Greens!
Nice, challenging but fair course. Great condition for Jan. Thick overseed and smooth fast greens.
Variety of hole layouts.
The play was slow due to cart path only. The last 3 holes were as advertised very tough.
Good experience all around.
Ladies tees gave us a great break most of the time. Fairways were well groomed and great.
I loved all the courses. I would have liked some sort of help on the hidden holes because I didn't know what was over a hill. What seemed like a good shot from the tee box turned into a horrible shot because I didn't know the courses.
Need a starter at hole one and a ranger on the course. Didn't like the sand covering the greens. The practice green was nothing like the greens on the course. If people do not wish to use bag drop the attendant needs to allow that and respect that. And no need to be grumpy in the morning to a person about to give you a tip. Overall good experience.
Liked the layout; played here several yrs. ago and course is in much better condition now than then; things seemed slow so not much staff around.
Very nice design but again- not well kept up. Still an interesting and challenging course. Pretty surrounding scenery.
This course has a great layout, but it looks like it needs some maintenance. Our group likes this course, and would play it more often if it was tended to a bit more. Really nice.
We were very well received.
It was a nice course be mostly like I have around were I live. It was a fun course,
Enjoyed the round, will play there again.
Very busy. Over all very nice.
Enjoy the lay out.
I enjoyed playing an early morning foursome the other day. It was the first time for me at Eagles Nest. The course layout and conditions were excellent. We look forward to playing again soon.
Very friendly staff, great feel to the course.
This course is very fair with expansive fairways and excellent water features. The greens are very well tended and subtle breaks require a good read if you want to make birdie.
I have played this course several times and I enjoyed it. It is a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Overall the course was good and I'd play it again. Nice layout and the ranger was friendly and helpful. Young lady at the grill was courteous even when very busy. Played November 15, 2013

Love playing at Eagles Nest, course is player friendly and in good shape. Would like to see the gold Tee boxes moved back away from the Red Tee boxes. Would also like to see the grass on the fairways a little higher, feel that they are cut to short
My husband & I , as well as my 3 girlfriends golfed here twice. The pro-shop cashier, Rick, was accommodating, during the extremely busy time & the starter, John, was very personable. We will highly recommend this course & are looking forward to coming back.
For the price, the course was in good shape. Staff was efficient. I enjoyed the experience.
The course provides a challenge for all ranges of proficiency and is a good track for the money. Staff friendly and professional.
The fairways were wide.
Great course. Beautiful landscapes. no rain covers on back of carts was really the lone downfall. Is go back.
All is well
Usually dry this time of year and quite playable.
Beautiful layout and surroundings, but course is in bad need of repair. Fairways are tolerable, greens are terrible and appear to be painted or stained a green color. The rough is nonexistent in most areas. This would be a beautiful coarse when someone invest in the maintenance and up keep of greens.
Greens were not in very good condition. Fairways were fair. Not a very challenging course. Good starter to golf vacation.
(Would like to have known prior to play) condition of course...not good.
Last 3 holes were great.
I played this course about 18 months ago and was disappointed this time. The course does not appear to be well maintained. The greens were ragged and slow and the grass in the fairways was barely grown in and spotty. It was still fun to play 16, 17 and 18, but if conditions don't improve, Eagle Nest could be off the rotation for a while.
3rd time played course. Very disappointed in the shape of the course. Greens were in terrible condition. Excuse was no rain, but other course we played was in better shape. Like the layout, but our group won't play it until they improve the course.
Liked some of the hole layouts. Some greens were thin and had a green filler in places. Not what you would expect at this price. Pro shop was nice and attendant was very accommodating and knowledgeable.
Greens, tees and traps are in very good condition. Course conditions are greatly improved since 5-6 years ago. Joe and staff are always helpful and accommodating. Lots of birds and squirrels.
Course is well laid out. Very fair and challenge is there if you want it. Was not impressed with grass condition of fairways or greens. Also, tees are too narrow and not level. 16, 17 18 really are great finishing holes.
Fair course, nice layout.
Much better than when we played it in '02.
It was so quiet and super nice, but it rained.
Eagle Nest was very wet.
Golf course was very wet. Greens were not great.
Unfortunately it rained, only played 6 holes.
The course had just been totally aerated and was very wet. It would have been nice to know so we could have picked a different course. We do like the course.
Greens need work, hole cutting is bad.
Always my first course in Myrtle Beach. I thought that the greens could have been better, but I still had fun and enjoy the course.
For an old course, it was fun to play. It appears that the owner/management group keep cost to a minimum. But, the course was still a fun round.
Would have played somewhere else if I had known the greens would be top dressed with sand. Very disappointed.
One of my favorites.
Thought the layout was excellent.
Played on a Sunday morning in July. Got a tee time the day before, and the course was not very busy. Paid $35 and honestly was a little bit let down. Just expect more when I play at the beach but there was good and bad. The good - not crowded at all, friendly staff, and good layout with some challenging holes and some carries over water, but not ridiculously long carries. The last three holes are really fun but I don't know about them being the 3 toughest finishing holes on the Grand Strand. I played the last 3 holes at 2 over par and lipped out a par putt on 17, but like I said still fun. The bad - course was not in great shape. You could tell that parts of the fairway were not hit by the irrigation system. I understand it's hot and summer and dry, but the parts of the fairways that were getting water had not been cut in several days. In many places the rough was shorter than the fairways. The grass on many of the tee boxes was also rather long. Finally, the greens were very sandy and slow. Not a bad course but I will probably not go back. Too many other good courses around.
Everyone was nice and the course was OK. Not sure I'd play here again with all of the other options in the area. The last three holes were the most fun.
Wonderful welcome and explanations by the starter.
We did not book this as part of our package, but one of the local people we meet recommended the course, there was a threat of rain so we thought, the price made it worth it to gamble (we paid $30). Really liked the course, some of the fairways were a little soggy, but fun to play. Weird having a par 3 for the 18th hole. Would play again if given the chance.
Everyone at Eagle Nest was very nice and helpful. We loved the clubhouse, especially the side room where you could smoke and look out and see the course, it was a beautiful view. Our favorite holes were 16, 17 and 18. Would definitely play again ...
We questioned whether the course should have even been played. So much rain the night before, standing water in every fairway, ofter had trouble finding a reasonable position to shoot from.
Very friendly greens, had sand on them but those things happen. Will make it a must-play next year!
Played this in the rain Oct 25, 2010. Although greens did not drain well (heck, it was raining), course is very nice, generous fairways and a couple of tough closing holes. Great value, nice looking layout, certainly would return.
Very nice course with any kind of challenge you can imagine.
Tees uneven; fairways dry.
Can't believe they didn't have any food in grill other than a hot dog. Not even fruit. No food or drink cart either on the course. The pro shop attendant was completely unfriendly when we checked in.
The greens left a little to be desired but the rest of the course was in good shape. It's an old golf course, which is apparent in the layout and clubhouse. Very clean and super friendly staff. For the price of $22 dollars it was an amazing value. Would recommend for anyone looking for a great, relaxing day of golf. Don't take it the wrong way - the word relaxing does not refer to the challenge of the golf course. Certain tee shots and blind shots make for a challenging round!
Really like the squirrels who came up to us, and the crows that stole a Cliff Bar out of the cart was too funny. We had a hard time on the fairways that were being aerated. The maintenance people are not very considerate of guests as they go flying by, and don't consider the noise they are making. No water fountain at the restroom and nobody out on the course offering drinks. The bathroom in the clubhouse is nice, but don't try to sit down on the toilet, you almost have to sit sideways. It was way to small for the average man. The last 2 holes are tough but challenging.
The course was in very good condition.
Rain on this day made play tough.
Fantastic golf experience! Friendly pace of play. Friendly staff, great grill! Telling all my friends and look forward to playing the course again.
First time playing. Beautiful course, both in layout and foliage, very visually impressive. Staff very helpful and courteous. Last three holes maintain their reputation, though mainly due to yardage discrepancies. A laser range-finder or GPS could have helped.
No ranger or anyone to keep the pace moving, course is OK but not the sort of experience that one needs to repeat.
Very pretty course ... Had a bit of trouble finding it as the general course map I had wasn't specific as far as directions (hwys/roads) go.
Some of the greens were recovering from winter conditions.
Eagle Nest is always a joy to play.
Course was OK, but nothing special.
Everything was great about this course. This was the third time we have played this coarse on our trip. Great course!
Course was in pretty good shape, but pro in the clubhouse must have had a very bad childhood and can't get over it. He was a jerk and it seems from the other staff, he is just like that. All other staff were very nice, just beware of the mad at life pro. Still a nice course.
It was fine.
Eagle Nest was very challenging and exceptional in layout and beauty. The course was well manicured and truly a pleasure to play. We were greeted by the starters by name and the pro shop staff are really good. The course was the highlight of the trip.
Service was very good.
So much fun playing this course. It may not be the best manicured course, but it is fun - the way golf started out before they started tricking up golf courses for professionals to play.
Played many times. Decent course. Was crowded-slow play.
Only issue I had was the staff smoking in the Pro-shop. Everything else was great
Price is right.
Course was wet but playable.
Good looking course with some challenging holes.
It was great.
The greens were very bumpy and did not putt very well. The fairways were very wet but that was understandable considering how much rain had fallen in the previous 2 or 3 days.
The words Eagles Nest is kept in excellent condition at all times is not accurate for the day that we played the course. The tees, fairways and greens needed a lot of tlc.
The course was better than we expected. We try to balance our trip with different-priced courses.
Terrible greens, golf course was very wet even after two days without rain. By far the worse golf course of the 5. Many similar holes.
Course still very wet.
course in good shape, friendly people
Staff was very accomdating and knowledgeable
Course was in great shape. Thunderstorm night before play, but course took water well. Played lift and place, but for most part you could just roll ball over with club & you were good to go! A couple of tees on backside needed work, burnt out & bare. 17th was my favorite, longer par 5 with water to carry front of green, very scenic & fun to play! Take your GPS, tough to find this place.
The grass had been cut with clumps left in the fairways and the greens were not well maintained; however, with that said it was still playable.
Could only play the back nine, front nine was closed. Back nine was just aerated and they were doing the back nine. Had no prior knowledge of this. Had I known I would have not booked the round. Would not play this course again and would not suggest to anyone to play it. This was one of the worst golf experiences I have ever had. The gentleman in the pro shop told us that a notice about the course conditions was posted on the Internet. Why wasn't I informed when I made the reservations?
Had a good time. Very relaxing and moved around the course well.
The course was just okay. It's similar to Possum Trot, Beachwood, Azalea Sands. I was expecting a little better but on the same level as those courses. When we called to make a tee time they made a point to say the course is in excellent condition. It wasn't. It was cart path only, standing water in fairways, lots of brown paths everywhere, greens were a little better. I was expecting better since they made a point to say it was excellent. They would have been better off saying nothing. There was not really a starter, it was just one bag drop guy who sorta was a starter. Nobody was there to tell the guy who hit 4 balls in a row in front of us to step off the first tee. The 3 finishing holes weren't too hard, easier than expected. The course is pretty open and forgiving. If you go left or right you just have to punch from under the pines. I wasn't blown away. I won't be going back for a while.
Beautiful, well maintained and lots of fun to play.
Staff was great, I found that I did not really save money reserving online. Prices are inflated online.
Very nice course.
A perfect course, I play it everytime I visit the beach.
The guy in the pro shop was rude with me, and seemed to take offense that I had booked my tee time through Myrtle Beach Golf, even though my name was on the tee time list. Many of the tees had longer grass than the rough. I won't play here again, or recommend it to anyone. ,The guy in the pro shop was rude with me, and seemed to take offense that I had booked my tee time through Myrtle Beach Golf, even though my name was on the tee time list. Not bad for the jacked up rates in March and April.
Fine. No problem
Played Nov. 9, 2008: Fine. No problem.
Played Nov. 9, 2008: Greens are new and were not cut recently. Could use a good roll. Fairways were being overseeded and the course was saturated with water.
Commented on October 27, 2008: Played one day after a good rain, 10/26/2008. A fun course, but the back nine was soaked. Nearly unplayable on all but four holes. 4.5 hours for 2 players.
Played Oct. 13, 2008: Very good course conditions. This was our first round in MB. The welcoming fairways were a real treat.
Played Sept. 30, 2008: Good gourse for the price. Greens on the front nine had too much sand on them. Back nine was better. Overall course was in good shape.
Played April 24, 2008: Everyone was friendly and helpful. Course was in very good shape.
